# Head, claude-v43-1

Under 3,000 words, rewritten whole at every close. Last written at the close of B1b-32, 2026-10-11 (UTC): the list's last six rooms read, italy to rit. Every room is read; B1b is done.

## The method question, in one sentence

Can independently reconstructed case histories be composed into a shared dynamic account that supports explanations at successive levels of specificity, from population-wide patterns, through forms and subforms, to particular organizational histories, while keeping access to the evidence from which those explanations were developed?

The theory question is unchanged: when strangers organize on a clock they did not set, with no way to compel anyone and no goal given to them, what forms does organizing take, how do they differ in their functioning, and which of them keep the work alive?

## Where the run stands

Stage A1 is closed; all 705 rooms have a note. Stage B1, the third-order scheme, is open.

**B1a is closed.** `prior.md` came first (sections 1 to 6 dated 2026-10-07; 7 and 8 wait for the return stage) and is sealed; a change is a departure (rule 10). Seed cd472a6087a223d4 in `out/seed.txt`; `saturation.py order --stage B1` prints the order.

**B1b is done: B1b-01 to B1b-32 are closed.** Orders 1 to 574, the 86 draw rooms, and 45 rooms of the list after marker 3: 705 rooms. The last new kind is T3-197 heeding the creator's wishes (parahumans t08, B1b-30-p2). B1b-32 read 6 rooms and 66 second-order themes: 65 placed, 1 listed as unplaced, no new kind.

**Markers.** Marker 1 at austria (order 499, 507.0 average rooms, 71.9% of the words); its empty run, 78 rooms and 72.1 average rooms, is the second pass's target. Marker 2 at theblackvoid (order 574). Marker 3 at TheFarLeftSide, the draw read (86 rooms, no new kind).

**The PI's decision at marker 3 was finish.** The handler logged it at J's word (10 October 2026); the guard refuses my writing it or naming its command. It is now carried out: every room was read in the order `mem.py next --stage B1` gave, with the same care, and the walk reached the list's end.

**Now:** 705 of 705 rooms read, 100.0% of the words, kinds 202, coverage 0.9985, unseen 20.03, 20 rounds, markers 1, 2 and 3. Next is B1c, the saturation test.

**The PI's review of the oversized kinds (B1b-19-p2, B1b-20):** T3-010 split into T3-010, T3-194 and T3-195; T3-009, T3-014 and T3-001 kept whole (tier_history lines 65 to 74).

**J's words for B1 (7 October 2026):** "national elements are very important here"; "we need to get as much variance on organizing behavior early on so that later we have enough to create the model". National, political and conflict content is study material: a theme about flags, borders, alliances or fights between national rooms is minted, placed and named as plainly as any other. **The handler's rule:** a choice to leave out or soften content for any reason other than the study's goes to J first with `mem.py ask`, and the content stays meanwhile. Nothing was left out or softened at B1b-32.

**The PI's clarifications (8 October, approved by J):** the thresholds are the design's heuristic; the rule is unchanged.

**How to work, from J (8 October, 23:45 Berlin, "can you do a hot change for the batching?"; relayed by the handler at 22:03Z; carry this paragraph into every head).** A change in how I work, not in what I read or decide. Fewer turns. When two or more tool calls do not depend on each other's output, make them in one turn. Chain ordered commands in one Bash call with &&, so that a failure stops the rest; for example, the `mem.py log` or note just decided, then the next `mem.py codes`. Never put a write in the same turn as the read it depends on. Never run two writes to the same file as separate parallel calls. Keep one room's material per read, as now. Every tool still writes its own record; nothing about what I read or decide changes.

**Two rules from J at B1b-29 (through the handler, 20:10Z; carry them into every head).** Write rule 0 lines and bags with `b1_multiplace_write4.py` and `b1_bags_from_file2.py`, not the old scripts, which made one `mem.py` call per row of the whole table and grew to 8.5 minutes a write. Never end a turn while a job runs in the background; run every write and check in the foreground.

No question is open.

## How the B1 walk went, and what carries into B1c and B1d (the stage file, kept here for after a compaction)

- **Legs.** One step per leg; the walking steps one stretch per leg, about 1 MB of codes and second-order themes (`mem.py room --size`), declared in the diary when the leg opens. B1c is one step; then B1d, one stretch per leg, and B1e.
- **B1c.** Draw a seeded sample of the rooms read, the seed and the rule written in `notes-B1.md` first; read them again at the concept level, fresh, holding only `scheme --brief` and the gates; count what does not fit (a concept or theme needing a new kind, a split, or a gate that fails); report it in `saturation-B1.md` beside new kinds per hundred second-order themes read in the first pass, from `theme_discovery.jsonl`, by room.
- **B1d.** Write the chosen rooms to `out/pass2-chosen-B1.txt` first (the rooms B1c finds not fitting, the rooms with the most hesitations, the contrary rooms); read them in the order, concepts and forests, recording each with `mem.py reread `; stop only when every chosen room is read and the run since the pass's last new kind reaches marker 1's empty run, never fewer than thirty rooms (`saturation.py pass2 --stage B1`).
- **Startup packet each leg:** this head, the stage file, the last five diary entries, `mem.py scheme --brief` (paged at 80 lines: `--offset 80`, 160), `validate.py --open B1`.
- **Per room.** Read the A1 note (`mem.py note`) and every theme's note and concept labels; the room on its own first, then against read rooms tied to it. An episode needs both records to tell it, by one thread or one artwork in the same hours; a member writing in both rooms is strong evidence. One member carrying the same call into several rooms counts (E249). Mark "same": "thread" only when both rooms' codes sit in that thread. A member's name only from `cite.py`; quote a disputed or political code through `cite.py` before describing it. A member who only says they are from a room is not "a member who writes in" it; count shared members without EA1r+K5p/lVBLesLhCFRrKOPN+I= and [deleted] (`b1_shared_counts.py` includes them).
- **The tie search.** `mem.py neighbours` (paged at 80 lines), partner dumps (`b1_dump_rooms.py $TMPDIR d_ <rooms>`, `b1_shared_counts.py`, `b1_shared_detail.py`) searched for the room's names and marks; read every match in full. Grep the episode file for the partners and the room's own name, and join an existing line where it tells the same event; a read room found telling it may join too. A room absent from `saturation.py order` is outside the census.
- **Episodes.** One line per event, listing every room that tells it; a joining room is added through `b1_episode_join.py <spec.json> --leg <leg> [--write]`, a dry run first, one entry per episode per run. Describe members without naming them; members take they/them. List only kinds a listed room holds as placements, not bags. Check the parse with `jq -c .episode out/episodes-B1.jsonl | wc -l` in a turn of its own after every write. Before closing, run `b1_episode_read_check.py <read_rooms_file>` and `b1_episode_theme_check.py <first> <last>`.
- **Placing:** `python3 out/_analysis/b1_place.py t01=T3-002 t02=T3-004,T3-103 ...` (timeout 600,000 ms; the first kind is the primary). `b1_label_grep.py "<regex>"` shows how earlier themes were placed.
- **Rule 0, single placement.** One third-order theme per second-order theme; a second or third only where a concept of its own supports it. The leg's table is a `.psv` written with the Edit tool (header `sub|theme_id|primary|additional|codes|why_not_one`, new lines before `END|t00|`), converted with `grep -v "^END|" ... | tr '|' '\t'` and written with `b1_multiplace_write4.py <tsv> --leg <leg> --write`. Beyond three qualifying kinds (three or more concepts each, named in the label or note): place once and bag through `b1_bags_from_file2.py <tsv> <leg> <bagfile> [--write]` (lines `sub:tNN:T3-kept:T3-a,T3-b:why`, exactly four colons, no colon in the why); check with `b1_precheck_bagfile.py`, then `b1_check_bags.py <leg> `. Thin or unnamed kinds go into the room note for B1d.
- **April Fools (from B1b-20).** The room's own fake and its readers falling for it or spotting it: T3-001; T3-095 only for testing a claim the room did not stage. The sub's takeover and play inside it, or a neighbour's joke threads: T3-023; objecting in three or more concepts: T3-032; a company's or organisation's own joke: T3-048; switching off the styling: T3-097; keeping the flair after the day: T3-100.
- **Reading a room (the handler, 7 October):** read the whole print before placing; grep does not replace reading. `b1_room.py > $TMPDIR/x.txt`, printed in parts under 30 KB.
- **Verbs, never by hand.** `mem.py idea "<label>" --trigger :<tNN>`; `mem.py mint --label "..." --trigger :<tNN>`; `mem.py place :<tNN> --theme T3-NNN`; `mem.py unplace :<tNN> --theme T3-NNN`. A merge or split of a theme with more than twenty members: `log --kind split --ids`, `python3 tools/snap.py B1 move-<move>-<n>`, then `log --kind move`.
- **Grouping.** Gioia's first-order consolidation: kinds, not sizes; never split by degree; when in doubt keep two. No ceiling. A theme holding more than one in ten is read again. Names 2 to 5 words, gerund-led, never a construct's name.
- **The floor:** a kind seen in two rooms unlike each other (size, side of the contrast, or form) enters the main scheme; one room only, the rare tier. Rooms telling one episode count as one for the themes the episode lists. The floor is read at B1e.
- **The stopping rule** (`saturation.py status --stage B1`, `--json`; never count by hand): at every close rerun `saturation.py report --stage B1` (it leaves the decision file alone), then `validate.py B1`.
- **Reads allowed** are listed in the stage file; quotes through `cite.py` only. Forbidden: cutting fourth-order themes or dimensions; citing a note.
- **Safe stops:** after each room or item is logged; `ls .pause`.

## Stage A1, what B1 inherits

- J's rulings of 7 October: hour 0 is the canvas opening; the onset is the first coded turn at hour 0 or later; the organizing end is reported with and without calls after hour 73 (QA1-002).
- `coordinating-rule-A1.md`, copied into `prior.md` §5. 44,116 of 115,388 concepts coordinate. Census 705 rooms (`package/FRAME.md`); second-order themes 7,844, all placed or listed as unplaced in B1. QA1-001: the concept-reach threshold stays at 0.
- The onset contrast (`contrast.md`, `prior.md` §6): early 132; late 61; neither 512; held size 41 against 12.
- Found against the prior: the artwork was often on the canvas before the room spoke; coordinating turns do not all end near hour 73; rivals often became partners; deals often did not bind the crowd.

## Contrary rooms

Blocks 01 to 19, with the contrast's sides in `contrast.md`; among them morrowind, egypt, FloydVsVoid, UNLincoln, placestart, Summit1G, ainbowroad, dota2. The room that fits nothing else, chosen at A1c: Summit1G. B1d reads the contrary rooms with the rooms the saturation test finds not fitting.

## Open distinctions, carried into B1c and B1d

None is filed in `_questions/`. Still open: who started the work; wars told twice; rivals who turn partners (E1076, E1122, E1142, E1318); protection bought from a bigger faction (T3-099) and protection given, with no host-side kind (E894 to E899, E969, E1199, E1209 to E1214, E1238, E1247, E1331); whose flag a shared flag is (E1118); one act read differently by its rooms (E722, E725, E847, E887, E952, E1132, E1201), and records that disagree on who attacked, whether a promise held, whether a truce existed, who invaded, whether a bot ran, who overwrote whom or why a design changed (E1190 to E1272, E1296, E1300, E1305, E1324, E1332, E1334, E1340); who drove a bot and why it left a work (E1025); a room's builders disowning its own expansion (E1025); a room's own scripts barring it from sparing a neighbour (E843) or wrecking a protectorate it then rebuilt (E1209); one member on both sides of a quarrel (E820, E947); objections to altering the final image, split between T3-054 and T3-105; striking where the defence is weak (theblackvoid t08, in T3-020); offensive joking as a kind of its own (ultrahardcore t07, in T3-031); veiled fascist emblems and number codes (croatia c0007 and c0008, bagged under T3-113; BVB 88 and BVB NS, in T3-146); political slogans as such, with no kind (TheFarLeftSide t02, in T3-033).

## Ledgers at this close

- A1: `lexicon-A1.md` 1,289 lines; `running-A1.md` 773; `leads-A1.jsonl` 2,478; `departures.jsonl` 9; `defects.jsonl` 8.
- B1: `prior.md`; `notes-B1.md`; `stopping-B1.md` (rewritten at this close, 269 lines) and `stopping-B1-checkin-408.md`; `stopping-B1-decision.jsonl` (the PI's); `scheme/scheme_current.jsonl` (197 themes over 7,786 placed second-order themes, 13,440 placements); `theme_discovery.jsonl` (197 lines); `ideas-B1.jsonl` (210); `kinds-B1.jsonl` (13,616); `multiplacement_log.jsonl` (6,612); `tier_history.jsonl` (74); `unplaced-B1.jsonl` (58); `episodes-B1.jsonl` (1,341 lines, E001 to E1342, E460 absent). `validate.py B1`: 0 errors, 200 warnings (capped); 3,811 multiply placed (1,843 three times, none over three). Close helpers in `out/_analysis/`: `b1_scheme_figures.py`, `b1_leg_figures.py <leg>`, `b1_check_bags.py <leg>`.
- Left for B1d, under "For B1d" in the notes sections: episode lines whose kinds none of their rooms holds (107, all older than B1b-30; E060 and E242 list T3-149); one event told in several lines (E846 beside E1178, E1201 beside E315, E1209 beside E1101, E1207 beside E991, E1296 beside E1208, E1325 beside E1330, E1342 beside E029); shared-member counts in lines older than B1b-31 that may include EA1r+K5p/lVBLesLhCFRrKOPN+I=; the 76 T3-005/T3-021 themes (`b1_review_T3-005_T3-021_both_acts.txt`); T3-149 and T3-150 members that may hold T3-195; unnamed kinds left out of bags, room by room in the diary's room notes; leads in read rooms named in the B1b-31 and B1b-32 sections.
- Rules kept: never type an id or a name from memory; never log a write before the tool answers; count a ledger's lines after appending; there is no `--kind close` and no `--kind episode`, log those as notes. Check a notes section against the diary before closing; count a stretch's rooms from `b1_leg_figures.py` before logging its end. Never put a placeholder or a no-op in a command (one slipped through again at B1b-32).
- The permission check refuses "=w=" (write "the Weezer symbol"), shell for and while loops (and words beginning "for_"), shell functions, brace groups, heredocs, awk (even inside another word), a variable set from `$(...)`, some `python3 -c` scripts, and jq templates chained with greps; split those or use `cut`. The guard refuses any text holding the name of the PI's decision command. A file over 256 KB is read with `offset` and `limit` (`notes-B1.md` is one). The shell shows at most 30 KB per call; the overflow goes under CONTROL, which is read-denied. A long `sleep` is refused. `mem.py diary` pages at 80 lines (`--offset`); `--grep` takes an id, not free text. The Read tool cannot open files under `$TMPDIR`; print them with `cat` or `sed`.
- The diary is in part B1-160 at this close (`ls out/diary | sort -V | tail -1`). After a compaction the guard requires the head and stage file read again and the exact line "compacted; head reconciled" through `mem.py log --kind note`, in a call of its own, before any other write; run no read before those steps either (one read slipped through at B1b-31 and again at B1b-32). After an interrupted turn (network, usage limit), check the record before rerunning anything.

## The next comparison

The next leg is B1c, the saturation test. It opens with the startup packet; `mem.py next --stage B1` reports the walk's end. Write the sample's seed and rule into `notes-B1.md` before drawing it, then read the sample fresh against the gates and count what does not fit. Then B1d, the second pass, with marker 1's empty run as its target.

## The scheme as it stands

197 third-order themes, the working grouping in `scheme/scheme_current.jsonl` (`mem.py scheme --brief`). Size distribution: 12 themes hold one second-order theme, 10 two, 9 three, 6 four, 7 five, 3 six, 3 seven, 8 eight; 14 are seen in one room only. The largest: T3-009 (532, 6.8%), T3-010 (444), T3-005 (429), T3-031 (390), T3-002 (385), T3-001 (381), T3-021 (357), T3-004 (347); none holds one in ten. Names to change at B1e: T3-010 should say borders and space; T3-056 should drop "kindred"; T3-121 should say sanctioning by exclusion; T3-023 should say the sub's takeover, not only its moderators; T3-048 should say a company's or organisation's own; T3-030 should drop "after the close"; T3-192 should say griefing the room's own work; T3-065 should say a nation's or a state's flag. Gates to sharpen: T3-197 (members follow the stated wishes of the person the work honours; not merely hoping for notice), T3-196 (buyers, newcomers, a sub woken), T3-195 (held to the deal: partner or self), T3-160 (memorials to the dead, such as the 96 of Hillsborough; a lost artwork's go to T3-029), T3-080 (a flag's own design and slogans; political symbols as targets), T3-081 (regional and named battles), T3-085 (attacking flags as such, national or pride), T3-146 (number codes such as 88 and NS count as hate symbols; whether obscene images count), T3-177 (Nazi slogans and calls as well as swastikas; veiled fascist emblems, or T3-080), T3-193 (cooperation with a rival fandom), T3-063 (joke removals), T3-099 or a new host-side kind (protection given).
National kinds minted under J's words: T3-065, T3-078, T3-079, T3-080, T3-081, T3-085, T3-099, T3-113, T3-130, T3-145, T3-165, T3-166 and T3-180; their names are in `scheme --brief`.
