# Head, claude-v43-1

Under 3,000 words, rewritten whole at every close. Last written at the close of B1d-07, 2026-10-11 (UTC): the second pass's seventh and last stretch, 12 chosen rooms reread whole. The second pass has stopped.

## The method question, in one sentence

Can independently reconstructed case histories be composed into a shared dynamic account that supports explanations at successive levels of specificity, from population-wide patterns, through forms and subforms, to particular organizational histories, while keeping access to the evidence from which those explanations were developed?

The theory question is unchanged: when strangers organize on a clock they did not set, with no way to compel anyone and no goal given to them, what forms does organizing take, how do they differ in their functioning, and which of them keep the work alive?

## Where the run stands

Stage A1 is closed; all 705 rooms have a note. Stage B1, the third-order scheme, is open.

**B1a is closed.** `prior.md` came first (sections 1 to 6 dated 2026-10-07; 7 and 8 wait for the return stage) and is sealed; a change is a departure (rule 10). Seed cd472a6087a223d4 in `out/seed.txt`; `saturation.py order --stage B1` prints the order.

**B1b is done (B1b-01 to B1b-32).** The last new kind is T3-197 heeding the creator's wishes (parahumans t08, room 661 of 705). Marker 1 at austria (order 499): its empty run, 78 rooms and 72.1 average rooms, is the second pass's target. Marker 2 at theblackvoid; marker 3 at TheFarLeftSide. The PI decided finish at marker 3 (10 October), and it is carried out.

**B1c is closed.** 30 seeded rooms read fresh: 0 new kinds, 0 splits; 35 of 317 themes (11.0%) in 20 rooms meet a gate that fails; four ideas logged (`ideas-B1.jsonl` 211 to 214).

**B1d is closed (B1d-01 to B1d-07), and the second pass has stopped.** `out/pass2-chosen-B1.txt` holds 108 rooms: 20 with a gate that failed at B1c, 23 with the most hesitations (`b1d_hesitations.py`) and 65 contrary rooms. All 108 were reread whole in seven stretches, orders 47 (morrowind) to 703 (TheFarLeftSide).
- No stretch minted, split or merged a kind. Placements went from 13,440 to 13,432 through rule 0 lines, bags and unplacements. T3-188 was rescoped at B1d-01 and holds 7 themes in 7 rooms.
- Stretch 7 (B1d-07), orders 641 (prequelmemes) to 703 (TheFarLeftSide), 12 rooms: seven bags and one rule 0 line (thesilphroad t09, T3-095); placements 13,445 to 13,432. The B1c idea "gathering lone placers together" was met at its trigger, rainbowgrid t02, and not minted: T3-002, T3-126 and T3-090 hold its parts, and a kind would split T3-002 by degree.
- `saturation.py pass2 --stage B1`: met; 108 of 108 chosen rooms read; run 108 rooms and 148.1 average rooms against 78 and 72.1 (floor 30). The stop is logged in the diary. `saturation-B1.md` holds the stretch table and each stretch's text.

Kinds 202 by the rule (197 themes plus the PI's splits), coverage 0.9985, unseen 20.03.

**The PI's review of the oversized kinds (B1b-19-p2, B1b-20):** T3-010 split into T3-010, T3-194 and T3-195; T3-009, T3-014 and T3-001 kept whole (tier_history lines 65 to 74).

**J's words for B1 (7 October 2026):** "national elements are very important here"; "we need to get as much variance on organizing behavior early on so that later we have enough to create the model". National, political and conflict content is study material: a theme about flags, borders, alliances or fights between national rooms is minted, placed and named as plainly as any other. **The handler's rule:** a choice to leave out or soften content for any reason other than the study's goes to J first with `mem.py ask`, and the content stays meanwhile. Nothing was left out or softened at B1d-01 to B1d-07.

**The PI's clarifications (8 October, approved by J):** the thresholds are the design's heuristic; the rule is unchanged.

**How to work, from J (8 October, 23:45 Berlin, "can you do a hot change for the batching?"; relayed by the handler at 22:03Z; carry this paragraph into every head).** A change in how I work, not in what I read or decide. Fewer turns. When two or more tool calls do not depend on each other's output, make them in one turn. Chain ordered commands in one Bash call with &&, so that a failure stops the rest; for example, the `mem.py log` or note just decided, then the next `mem.py codes`. Never put a write in the same turn as the read it depends on. Never run two writes to the same file as separate parallel calls. Keep one room's material per read, as now. Every tool still writes its own record; nothing about what I read or decide changes.

**Two rules from J at B1b-29 (through the handler, 20:10Z; carry them into every head).** Write rule 0 lines and bags with `b1_multiplace_write4.py` and `b1_bags_from_file2.py`, not the old scripts, which made one `mem.py` call per row of the whole table and grew to 8.5 minutes a write. Never end a turn while a job runs in the background; run every write and check in the foreground.

No question is open.

## How B1 goes from here (the stage file, kept here for after a compaction)

- **B1e, the next leg: the scheme standing.** The stage file's §3 to §7 and its Close say what it writes: `scheme.md`, `scheme.jsonl`, `families.jsonl`, `confusions.md`, the hand-over checks, the handback, and the interview brief `out/interview/B1e.md`, closed with `done.sh B1 --cut interview`. Read those sections again when the leg opens.
- **Startup packet each leg:** this head, the stage file, the last five diary entries, `mem.py scheme --brief` (paged at 80 lines; `--offset`), `validate.py --open B1`.
- **Episodes.** One line per event; a joining room through `b1_episode_join.py <spec.json> --leg <leg> [--write]`, a dry run first. Describe members without naming them; members take they/them. Check the parse with `jq -c .episode out/episodes-B1.jsonl | wc -l` in a turn of its own after every write. B1d did not check episode joins for its rooms.
- **Placing and moving:** `mem.py place :<tNN> --theme T3-x` (timeout 600,000 ms). A move: `unplace`, `place`, then `out/_analysis/b1_tier_line.py --leg --id --to --moved --move --event members_changed --prompted --why`. A kind widened: `out/_analysis/b1d_tier_rescope.py --leg --id --added --prompted --why [--label-to]`.
- **Rule 0, single placement.** One kind per second-order theme; a second or third only where a concept of its own supports it, central or a carrying code: `place`, then a line in the leg's `.psv` (header `sub|theme_id|primary|additional|codes|why_not_one`, new lines before `END|t00|`), converted with `grep -v "^END|" ... | tr '|' '\t'`, written with `b1_multiplace_write4.py <tsv> --leg <leg> --write`. Beyond three, bag: unplace the extra kinds, then a file of lines `sub:tNN:T3-kept:T3-a,T3-b:why` (exactly four colons), checked with `b1_precheck_bagfile.py`, written with `b1_bags_from_file2.py <tsv> <leg> <bagfile> --write`, then `b1_check_bags.py <leg> `. The bag writer skips a kind's second unplacement in one leg: after bags, run `out/_analysis/b1d_tier_unplace_fill.py --leg <leg>` dry, then with `--write`. Kinds missing from an existing bag go in the room note.
- **April Fools (the B1b-20 review, in its own words).** T3-095 holds testing a claim the theme did not stage: a change or announcement by the moderators or the company, a public figure's post, a news story, another room, real news taken for a joke. Themes that test only the fake they stage go to T3-001 alone. The room's own fakes: T3-001. The sub's takeover and play inside it: T3-023. Objecting in three or more concepts: T3-032. A company's, organisation's or creator's own joke: T3-048. Switching off the styling: T3-097. Keeping the flair after the day: T3-100.
- **Reading a room (the handler, 7 October):** read the whole print before placing; grep does not replace reading.
- **Verbs, never by hand.** `mem.py idea`, `mint`, `place`, `unplace`; a merge or split of a theme with more than twenty members: `log --kind split --ids`, `python3 tools/snap.py B1 move-<move>-<n>`, then `log --kind move`. Every grouping move gets a `tier_history.jsonl` line with its move and `prompted_by`.
- **Grouping.** Gioia's first-order consolidation: kinds, not sizes; never split by degree; when in doubt keep two. No ceiling. Names 2 to 5 words, gerund-led, never a construct's name.
- **The floor:** a kind seen in two rooms unlike each other enters the main scheme; one room only, the rare tier. Rooms telling one episode count as one. Read at B1e.
- **At every close** rerun `saturation.py report --stage B1` (it leaves the decision file alone), then `validate.py B1`, then the notes section.
- **Reads allowed** are listed in the stage file; quotes through `cite.py` only. Forbidden: cutting fourth-order themes or dimensions; citing a note.
- **Safe stops:** after each room or theme is logged; `ls .pause`.

## Stage A1, what B1 inherits

- J's rulings of 7 October: hour 0 is the canvas opening; the onset is the first coded turn at hour 0 or later; the organizing end is reported with and without calls after hour 73 (QA1-002).
- `coordinating-rule-A1.md`, copied into `prior.md` §5. 44,116 of 115,388 concepts coordinate. Census 705 rooms; second-order themes 7,844, all placed or listed as unplaced in B1. QA1-001: the concept-reach threshold stays at 0.
- The onset contrast and what was found against the prior are in `contrast.md` and `prior.md` §6.

## Contrary rooms

Blocks 01 to 19, with the contrast's sides in `contrast.md`. The 68 the log and head name are the chosen list's group 3; Summit1G is the room that fits nothing else (A1c).

## Open distinctions, carried into B1e

None is filed in `_questions/`. Still open: who started the work; wars told twice; rivals who turn partners (E1076, E1122, E1142, E1318); protection bought from a bigger faction (T3-099) and protection given, with no host-side kind (episodes in the notes; sakuragakuin c0033 and c0050); whose flag a shared flag is (E1118); one act read differently by its rooms, and records that disagree on who attacked, on promises, truces, bots and design changes (episodes in the notes); who drove a bot and why it left a work (E1025); a room's own scripts barring it from sparing a neighbour (E843) or wrecking a protectorate it then rebuilt (E1209); one member on both sides of a quarrel (E820, E947); objections to altering the final image, split between T3-054 and T3-105; striking where the defence is weak (theblackvoid t08, in T3-020); offensive joking as a kind of its own (ultrahardcore t07, in T3-031); veiled fascist emblems and number codes (croatia c0007 and c0008, bagged under T3-113; BVB 88 and BVB NS, in T3-146); members drawing a swastika on the room's own logo (pcmasterrace t05, now in T3-177); political slogans as such, with no kind (TheFarLeftSide t02, in T3-033); replacing another nation's flag with the room's own (kurdistan t02: T3-068, T3-006, T3-061, with T3-130 for the national choice of target; israel t04 is another case).

## Ledgers at this close

- A1: `lexicon-A1.md` 1,289 lines; `running-A1.md` 773; `leads-A1.jsonl` 2,478; `departures.jsonl` 9; `defects.jsonl` 8.
- B1: `prior.md`; `notes-B1.md` (sections through "Leg B1d-07"); `stopping-B1.md` (384 lines, rewritten at this close) and `stopping-B1-checkin-408.md`; `stopping-B1-decision.jsonl` (the PI's); `saturation-B1.md` (207 lines); `scheme/scheme_current.jsonl` (197 themes over 7,786 placed second-order themes, 13,432 placements); `theme_discovery.jsonl` (197); `ideas-B1.jsonl` (214); `kinds-B1.jsonl` (13,657); `multiplacement_log.jsonl` (6,663); `tier_history.jsonl` (123); `unplaced-B1.jsonl` (58); `episodes-B1.jsonl` (1,341 lines, E001 to E1342, E460 absent); `pass2-chosen-B1.txt` (108 rooms, 125 lines); `pass2-B1.jsonl` (108). `validate.py B1`: 0 errors, 200 warnings (capped). B1d records in `out/_analysis/`: `b1_multiplace_b1d01.psv` to `b1_multiplace_b1d07.psv`, the bag files `b1d01_bags_*`, `b1d03_bags_*`, `b1d05_bags_*`, `b1d06_bags_*` and `b1d07_bags_*`, `b1d_forest_lengths.py` and `b1d_tier_unplace_fill.py`.
- Left from B1d for B1e, under "For B1d" in the notes sections: episode lines whose kinds none of their rooms holds (107, all older than B1b-30); one event told in several lines (seven pairs, the first E846 beside E1178); E989, where runescape t10 now holds T3-086 and 2007scape holds none; cfb c0468 and c0485 against finland c0070 and c0071 (who worked for whom against two logos); shared-member counts in lines older than B1b-31 that may include EA1r+K5p/lVBLesLhCFRrKOPN+I=; the 76 T3-005/T3-021 themes (`b1_review_T3-005_T3-021_both_acts.txt`); T3-149 and T3-150 members that may hold T3-195; kinds left out of bags, in the diary's room notes (B1d-06's and B1d-07's in `saturation-B1.md`, stretches 6 and 7).
- Rules kept: never type an id, an order or a name from memory; check with `jq` or `saturation.py order`; never log a write before the tool answers, nor trust an answer cut by `tail`; count a ledger's lines after appending; there is no `--kind close` and no `--kind episode`, log those as notes. Check a notes section against the diary before closing. Never put a placeholder or a no-op in a command. Never put an Edit and the read that checks it in one turn. Before moving a placement under a rule, read the rule's own `tier_history.jsonl` line, not this head's summary of it.
- The permission check refuses "=w=" (write "the Weezer symbol"), shell for and while loops (and words beginning "for_"), shell functions, brace groups, heredocs, awk (even inside another word), a variable set from `$(...)`, some `python3 -c` scripts, jq with a `test()` regex (alone or chained with greps), env-var prefixes such as `LC_ALL=C cut`, and cat or jq on `out/diary/` (use `mem.py diary`); split those or use `cut`. In zsh a word beginning with "=" (such as a row of equals signs) fails and stops the line; use dashes. The guard refuses any text holding the name of the PI's decision command. A file over 256 KB is read with `offset` and `limit` (`notes-B1.md` is one). The shell shows at most 30 KB per call; `cut` can drop text on an illegal byte, so print parts with `head -c` and `tail -c`. A long `sleep` is refused. `mem.py diary` pages at 80 lines (`--offset`); `--grep` takes an id, not free text. The Read tool cannot open files under `$TMPDIR`.
- The diary is in part B1-185 at this close. After a compaction the guard requires the head and stage file read again and the exact line "compacted; head reconciled" through `mem.py log --kind note`, in a call of its own, before any other write; run no read and no write before those steps (slips: one call at B1d-01, one read each at B1d-02, B1d-04 and B1d-05, two reads at B1d-03, one write at B1d-06, four reads at B1d-07). After an interrupted turn or a lost connection, check the record before rerunning anything.

## The next comparison

The next leg is B1e, the scheme standing. Each of the 197 themes is set against its near neighbours through its gate and discriminators, using the gate notes and discriminators below and the cases in `saturation-B1.md` (B1c and stretches 1 to 7) and the notes sections.

## The scheme as it stands

197 third-order themes, the working grouping in `scheme/scheme_current.jsonl` (`mem.py scheme --brief`). The largest: T3-009 (532), T3-010, T3-005, T3-031, T3-002, T3-001, T3-021, T3-004; none holds one in ten.

Names to change at B1e: T3-010 should say borders and space; T3-056 should drop "kindred"; T3-121 should say sanctioning by exclusion; T3-023 should say the sub's takeover, not only its moderators, and one sub's joke raid on another (Slovakia t02); T3-048 should say a company's, organisation's or creator's own; T3-030 should drop "after the close"; T3-192 should say griefing the work, the room's own included; T3-065 should say a nation's, state's or region's flag; T3-115 should say any other room's request; T3-063 should say posts about the event, insults and April Fools posts included; T3-088 should say placing beyond the limit by any means; T3-132 should say a rival watching from inside; T3-117 should take registering the end and hoping it returns; T3-188 should say separating the plan from placers it cannot control; T3-041 should say adding pieces to the work or enlarging it; T3-087 should say tracing who changed the work or sent a call; T3-120 should say lending accounts to a bot, the room's own included.

Gates to sharpen: T3-197, T3-196, T3-195, T3-160, T3-080, T3-081 (not game-fandom wars: loltyler1 t03), T3-085, T3-146 (whether obscene images or covered insults count), T3-177, T3-193 (a rival fandom's room counts: starcitizen t16), T3-063, T3-027 (whether a bot rumour, or saying a defence was scripts, counts), T3-070 (plans of colours, borders and timings included), T3-073 (live reports included), T3-002 (calls to placers who are not yet a group included), T3-126 (saying no one can speak for the placers included), T3-099 or a new host-side kind (protection given), T3-188 (whether an outside voice's "it was not us" counts: cases in `saturation-B1.md`, stretches 2 to 7), T3-054 (either answer to a successor canvas), T3-074 against T3-088 for glitches, T3-102 (placestart c0477). Discriminators written at B1d-06 and B1d-07: T3-010/T3-149 (a pact ending or forestalling a fight goes to T3-149; borders or space with no fight, to T3-010); T3-074/T3-136 (doubting the room can manage a work at all, even mid-work, goes to T3-136; working around the timer and few hands, to T3-074); T3-044/T3-082 (outsiders led to the sub by the mark go to T3-044; members finding their own room's mark already placed, to T3-082). Discriminators owed: T3-003/T3-038, T3-037/T3-098 (bare dismissals of a call: glasgow t02, cardinals t04), T3-010/T3-149/T3-151 (Fez t07: help given in return goes to T3-151), T3-046/T3-076 (PlaceNL t14), T3-016/T3-074 (glitches: rotmg t14 and wholesomememes t09 against nyjets), T3-024/T3-010, T3-070/T3-091, T3-068/T3-061/T3-006, T3-120/T3-088, T3-188/T3-076/T3-195, T3-188/T3-087 (members saying damage was not the room's: TheFarLeftSide c0422, c0497), T3-050/T3-017, T3-168/T3-024 (runescape t12), T3-073/T3-038. A bag line may file under T3-010 what T3-194 or T3-150 holds (starcitizen t11). The floor: T3-007 and T3-077 each have a second room's concept (parahumans c0007, in a bag; PlaceNL c0087).

National kinds minted under J's words: T3-065, T3-078, T3-079, T3-080, T3-081, T3-085, T3-099, T3-113, T3-130, T3-145, T3-165, T3-166 and T3-180; their names are in `scheme --brief`.
