Notes, stage C2 (the loop)

The criterion, written before pass 1 (section 1)

I will prefer a later pass to an earlier one only when four things hold together. First, the later story tells more of the rooms drawn against it in their own terms: fewer told-with-residue and not-told verdicts among rooms drawn by a rule written before any room is opened, the three within-case rooms and one room from each size quartile among them, with no element loosened to make a room fit. Second, more of its in-model arrows rest on an instance a reader can be shown (a participant's words through cite.py, or two coded turns in one thread in order), each with mechanism_fails_if written before its strength and each sampled against rooms outside its own where it could fail. Third, its tiers stay a step up in abstraction: no fourth-order theme or dimension that renames its members, and every dimension answers a question none of its members answers alone. Fourth, it reaches the contract's four things (how a scattered readership becomes able to act, how it settles what to act on, what sends it back to the beginning, what it leaves behind) with an element for each or a stated absence. A pass that adds elements or arrows without improving the first two is not preferred, however much it explains on paper. A pass in which told-with-residue rises is a stopping failure, and its residues are the next pass's material. A tie goes to the earlier pass, so the loop does not ratchet. Every pass is numbered and every version kept (structure.md then structure-p2.md, model.md then model-p2.md, model/story-pN.md); the last pass says which one the model rests on. The stopping rule is contract section 6's guide: two consecutive passes with no tier_history event, no arrow added, bounded, demoted or withdrawn, and no story sentence naming an arrow or element changed.

Pass 1 (C2a-01)

Before the pass

The three within-case rooms, named before any was read (section 4)

They were drawn by out/_analysis/c2_within_case_pick.py. All three come from the middle half of rooms by items_in_window (156 to 2,770, the held-size band of contrast.md, 353 rooms), so size does not pick them, and each was drawn with random.Random(20261014) from its candidate list.

I read each through mem.py with placements hidden (--blind), from its concepts, forest and timeline, and write them with no theme above the second tier.

Part A, pass 1: the tiers

The onset contrast, pass 1 verdict

The next table repeats the shares that decide stage A1's expectations at held size (items_in_window 156 to 2,770). The late side has 12 rooms at held size, so every late share is thin.

what held early (n=41) held late (n=12)
choosing a canvas spot 0.22 0.33
asking a host for space 0.05 0.08
relocating after losing the spot 0.20 0.00
extending the room's work 0.27 0.25
defending the work against attackers 0.66 0.42
calling to deface rivals' work 0.41 0.08
trading taunts with rivals 0.15 0.08
Host framing (dimension) 0.83 0.25

Part B, pass 1

concept.md: the one-line enrolment (FP-01), chosen provisionally. It is in the model as P15 and arrow A12, never counted. Its nearest concept is slacktivism, which substitutes for action; the enrolment comes before action and is the room's head count. It appears in 337 of 705 communities under the form pass's declared gate, as a floor. The candidate I came closest to choosing instead is organizing without decided order (C01). The rejected candidates are kept in the file.

Part C, pass 1: the model

The story, pass 1, and the rooms read against it

model/story-p1.md names all 12 arrows in brackets (A01 to A12). The 20 rooms were drawn before any was opened, by the rule in the first line of story_rooms-p1.jsonl (out/_analysis/c2_story_draw_p1.py, seed 20261014). Each was read whole, room page then forest. The saturation line holds: told 0, told-with-residue 20, not-told 0.

The story's spine shows in every room. No room needed a recut to be told in part. Every room also did something the story does not tell. The residues cluster as follows; they are pass 2's material:

What the structure showed that my notes did not predict. Exchange between rooms is the most frequent thing the story cannot tell: 9 of 20 rooms. Attack is often a room's first canvas act, not only something it suffers.

The criterion, applied to pass 1

Pass 1 is the baseline:

A later pass is preferred if it lowers told-with-residue on a fresh draw, without loosening any element. The stopping rule cannot stop at pass 1: 35 tier_history events, 12 arrows added, and a first story.

Slips, pass 1

The close-check, pass 1

python3 tools/validate.py C2, run before the head was rewritten:

stage C2:
  1 pass(es) so far; a declared stop comes from the third pass on (stage C2 section 1)
  elements 20, arrows 12 (12 in the model), fourth-order themes 28, dimensions 7, passes 1, findings 6

0 errors (0 distinct shapes), 0 warnings

done.sh C2 runs the same check at the close. Its report is in the leg's closing diary line.

Pass 2 (C2a-02)

Before the pass

Declarations, written before any pass 2 count

Candidate elements. Each stands for the concepts cited under its third-order themes, as at pass 1.

Connection statements. The pass 1 statement holds for every order test: "in a room carrying both, the first concept of FROM comes before the first concept of TO". The null is the same: 500 permutations of labels within each room, seed 20261014; the base rate is beaten when the share exceeds the null's 95th percentile. The arrows to test, each with its mechanism written now:

The relocation window test (_questions/relocation-renewed-calls.md). For each room carrying both a move (P10) and a call (P01), t0 is the hour of its first move concept. A room counts only if t0 lies between h6 and h67, so both six-hour windows fit inside the placement period. Three shares are compared:

Reading 1 holds if the share after is below both the share before and the control. Reading 2 holds if the share after is at or above the share before. The same test runs for build reports (P03).

The play-frame test. The rooms are those at held size (items_in_window 156 to 2,770). A room is frame-filled if the play frame (K01) carries at least half of its coded concepts before h32, and at least ten of them. The comparison group is every other room at held size with any canvas-work concept. The outcome is the hour of the room's first canvas-work concept: the first concept of the starter (R01), a call (P01), the emblem (P02), building (P03) or the template (P04). The statement: "frame-filled rooms start the canvas work later". The test is the difference of the two medians against 2,000 permutations of the group labels (seed 20261014), one-sided at 0.05. The share of each group with no canvas concept before h32 is reported beside it.

Two more tests, declared after the first ten ran (c2_arrow_evidence-p2a.txt), because border talk then coalition failed and coalitions still need a test from another side:

They run under the same statement and null. They are the eleventh and twelfth order tests of the pass, and the count of tests is reported beside every result.

A correction to the play-frame test, made after its first run and before the result was used. The first run (c2_play_frame-p2.txt) counted the frame's concepts as the concepts the assignment lines cite under a frame theme. The lines cite only a few supporting concepts per theme: ultrahardcore's parody theme carries 61 concepts and cites 7. Those cited counts were set against all of a room's coded concepts, which undercounts the frame. ultrahardcore (26 of 187) and totallynotrobots (33 of 164) fell out of the group, though the play frame fills both. The declaration says the frame "carries" the concepts. The corrected rule counts every coded concept on a frame line: a second-order theme whose first placed third-order theme is a play-frame theme. Everything else is unchanged, including the outcome, which uses cited concepts as every order test does. The corrected run is c2_play_frame-p2b.txt, and both runs are reported.

The pass 2 tests: results

Twelve order tests ran under the pass 1 statement and null (c2_arrow_evidence-p2a.txt, -p2b.txt). Seven beat the null's 95th percentile and five did not. At 0.05 each, twelve tests would give about 0.6 false passes by chance, so the two thin ones (A14 and A19) carry most of that risk. The next table lists each test with rooms carrying both elements, the share in which the first concept of FROM comes first, the null's 95th percentile, and the early and late sides.

test both holds (share) null p95 early side late side result

exchange then coalition (P16 to P17) 99 38 (0.384) 0.525 5 of 18 0 of 4 not beaten
upkeep then coalition (P05 to P17) 157 106 (0.675) 0.631 21 of 32 2 of 7 beaten: A19, thin

The relocation window test (c2_relocation_window-p2.txt). 74 rooms carry a move and a call with a first move between h6 and h67. A call falls in the six hours after the first move in 29 of them (0.392), in the six hours before in 37 (0.500), and in other calling rooms at the same hours in 0.290 on average. For build reports, 60 rooms: 0.317 after, 0.417 before, control 0.309. By the declared rule neither reading holds cleanly: calls fall after a move, but stay above other rooms. F-002 is bounded (superseded by a bounded line), the question file is closed with that verdict, and the story's relocation sentence is rewritten: calls fall from the crisis before the move, but the room keeps calling more than rooms that did not move.

The play-frame test (c2_play_frame-p2b.txt, corrected). 59 of the 353 rooms at held size are frame-filled. Their median first canvas-work hour is h21.80, against h20.25 for the 275 other rooms: a difference of 1.55 hours, permutation p 0.4273. Not grounded. 16 of 59 frame-filled rooms and 71 of 275 others have no canvas concept before h32 (0.27 and 0.26). The first run (-p2.txt, 8 rooms, p 0.020) undercounted the frame and was not used. Finding F-009: the play frame does not delay canvas work across rooms. What the frame makes is untested (totallynotrobots, below).

The contention question (_questions/contention-dimension.md, closed). The rule written before pass 2 counted said: split Contention out of Order without law if an arrow runs into or out of attack without border talk. A15 and A18 do. D08 Contention was cut (T4-020 Repertoire of contention, T4-021 Rivalry), D04 recut to T4-014 to T4-018, with four tier_history lines and snap C2-move-splitting-35.

The onset contrast, pass 2

The next table gives the shares for the new dimension and the exchange themes (structure-p2.md, foot). The late side has 12 rooms at held size, so every held-late share is thin.

what early (n=132) late (n=61) held early (n=41) held late (n=12)
D08 Contention 0.50 0.20 0.56 0.42

Part A, pass 2

Part B, pass 2

Unchanged. The one-line enrolment stays the provisional concept (P15, A12, never counted). Nothing in pass 2's rooms argues for a different concept; the exchange between rooms is now an element of the model, not a concept the literature lacks (reciprocity is the near word).

Part C, pass 2: the model

The story, pass 2, and the rooms read against it

model/story-p2.md names all 19 arrows. The 32 rooms were drawn before any was opened (c2_story_draw_p2.py, seed 20261016): the twenty pass 1 rooms, one outside the model's forms (bih), two late (rainbowgrid, k_on), four sampled fails (bretagne, calgaryflames, strangerthings, touhou), one per size quartile (orderofthebluecorner, vocaloid, placeDE, starcitizen), one by seed (greenlattice). Each was read whole, room page then forest; sweden's forest (2,243 lines), placeDE's (1,394) and greenlattice's (4,096) were read in pages.

The saturation line: told 14, told-with-residue 18, not-told 0. Of the twenty pass 1 rooms, 8 are now told (ubc, ultrahardcore, day9, edmontonoilers, worldoftanks, xenoblade_chronicles, yuyuyu, ripcity). Of the twelve new rooms, 6 are told (k_on, bretagne, calgaryflames, strangerthings, touhou, vocaloid). The fresh twelve matter more: the twenty were the rooms whose residues pass 2 was built from.

The residues cluster as follows; they are pass 3's material:

What the structure showed that my notes did not predict. Most attack calls are answered inside the room: members refuse, rein in, apologise or point to a truce (A16, 0.788). The contest is mostly a room arguing with itself. And the largest rooms are hosts: sweden, placeDE and greenlattice each ran their territory as a host with rules for guests.

The criterion, applied to pass 2

Pass 2 is preferred to pass 1. The stopping rule cannot stop at pass 2: 7 tier_history events, 10 arrow changes (7 added, 3 bounded), and changed story sentences. Pass 3 tests the residues above: membership carried in, hosting, the host's policing, and the clauses for A06's and A09's bounds.

Slips, pass 2

The close-check, pass 2

python3 tools/validate.py C2, run before the head was rewritten:

stage C2:
  2 pass(es) so far; a declared stop comes from the third pass on (stage C2 section 1)
  elements 24, arrows 19 (19 in the model), fourth-order themes 28, dimensions 8, passes 2, findings 9

0 errors (0 distinct shapes), 0 warnings

done.sh C2 runs the same check at the close. Its report is in the leg's closing diary line.

Pass 3 (C2a-03)

Before the pass

Declarations, written before any pass 3 count

Candidate elements. Each stands for the concepts cited under its third-order themes, as at passes 1 and 2. A script reads the members from fourth/fourth.jsonl; none is typed.

Seven order tests, under the pass 1 statement and null: "in a room carrying both, the first concept of FROM comes before the first concept of TO"; 500 permutations of labels within each room, seed 20261014; the base rate is beaten above the null's 95th percentile. At 0.05 each, seven tests give about 0.35 false passes by chance; the count is reported beside every result. Each mechanism and failure clause is written now.

  1. Membership then attack (K04 to P09). The body carried in names the rival (a historic enemy, an opposing ideology, another colour), and the room's first attack goes at it. Fails if the first attack comes before any concept of the body, or if in the sampled rooms the first attack is at a room the body gives no reason to fight.
  2. Membership then hosting (K04 to P19). A room that is a body before the canvas lays down the body's mark, and guests then ask for room on it. Fails if hosting comes first, or if the host's rulings give no ground tied to the body (the reading below).
  3. Exchange then hosting (P16 to P19). A room that has helped or been helped by another gives it space on its mark, or asks it for space. Fails if hosting comes before any help between rooms.
  4. Coalition then hosting (narrowed P17 to P19). Rooms joined in an alliance or a hub take allies' works onto their territory, or ask allies for space. Fails if hosting comes before any coalition.
  5. Upkeep then hosting (P05 to P19). A room keeping a standing mark is asked by others for space on it and rules on the requests; a small room keeping its work turns to a bigger neighbour for protection. Fails if hosting comes before any upkeep.
  6. Upkeep then coalition, again (P05 to narrowed P17). A19's mechanism, unchanged, on the narrowed element. It runs in any case; if the split stands, it decides A19's strength.
  7. Calls then the host's line (P01 to P20). Calls to the canvas flood the host sub, and its moderators or members answer by drawing a line: one thread, removals, a canvas sub. Fails if the line comes before any call, or if in the sampled rooms the line's words name no canvas flood.

Tests 3 to 5 answer whether hosting follows exchange, coalition or a standing mark; more than one may hold.

How a host admits guests: a reading of the vetting concepts. Every concept cited under vetting others' requests to build (T3-162) is read, and the ground the host gives for its ruling is coded by its words into one of five:

The statement "a host admits guests by fit with the body it carried in" holds if (a) is the commonest ground among concepts that give one (a, b or c), by concepts and by rooms. It fails if (b) or (c) is commoner. The coding is mine alone; it is reported with the counts and up to three quotes per ground.

Rooms the canvas founded: a count and a decision rule. A room may have been founded by the canvas if its pre-event brief is empty (the harness's empty brief: no posts or comments from 24 to 31 March 2017). A script counts these rooms over the 705 through mem.py brief. Two of them, by seed and outside every earlier draw, join the story rooms beside rainbowgrid and greenlattice. Each one read is classed from its own record: a side sub of a readership that existed elsewhere (a parent sub named as where members came from); a body the canvas gathered (a colour faction, or a work's makers forming a room); or a quiet sub the canvas woke. The decision: if the bodies the canvas gathered run the story's steps after their founding (calls, building, keeping, other rooms, the close) and their residue is only the opening, the story gains one bound sentence at its opening. If their main acts are ones no element carries, they are a form the model does not reach, reported as a boundary at the return.

The story clauses. Two clauses enter the story as story changes, from bounds already in arrows.jsonl: A06's (spare accounts serving an attack or a first build before any upkeep) and A09's (carrying on planned while the work is still kept). No count rests on them.

The move's bound. guatemala (the judgment of too few hands written after the move, at h79.1) and MiamiHurricanes (a move made by the parent coalition's plan) are counterexamples to A10's order. Both enter A10's bound, with a counterexample response: one late room and one room moved by a coalition, so a scope condition and not a withdrawal. A10 stays thin.

What pass 3 leaves outside. The play setting what a room makes (totallynotrobots), fear of the newcomers the mark draws (scp) and learning from others how to organize (bih) are one room each. Pass 3 adds no element for them. Each is read again; unless the reading changes, each is carried as a form the model does not reach.

The pass 3 story rooms. The rule, written before the draw, for c2_story_draw_p3.py with seed 20261017: the three within-case rooms; every pass 2 told-with-residue room (18); one room whose most-placed fourth-order theme lies outside the model; two rooms with an empty pre-event brief; two late-side rooms; every room marked fails in a pass 3 arrow's sampled_against; one room per quartile of items_in_window; two rooms by seed from the rest. Apart from the within-case rooms and the residue rooms, no room read at pass 1 or 2 is drawn again: the pass 3 changes add steps that those rooms' verdicts did not need.

The criterion is the one written before pass 1. A rise in told-with-residue over pass 2's 18 is a stopping failure; the count and the share are both reported. Pass 3 goes to the reviewer's build leg (C2b) if it is preferred to pass 2 and told-with-residue did not rise; otherwise another pass runs first.

The pass 3 tests: results

Seven order tests ran under the pass 1 statement and null (c2_arrow_evidence-p3a.txt). Three beat the null's 95th percentile and four did not. At 0.05 each, seven tests give about 0.35 false passes by chance. One of the three became an arrow. The next table lists each test with the rooms carrying both elements, the share in which the first concept of FROM comes first, the null's 95th percentile, the early and late sides, and the result.

How hosts admit guests: the reading of the vetting concepts

61 concepts are cited under vetting others' requests to build, in 7 rooms. I coded each by its words into one of the five grounds declared before the count (c2_vetting_grounds-p3.json, tallied by c2_vetting_tally.py in c2_vetting_tally-p3.txt). The next table gives the concepts and rooms for each ground.

ground concepts rooms
(a) fit with the body 6 3
(b) space or design 12 3
(c) ties: help, an alliance, redress 5 4
(d) procedure alone 24 7
(e) no ruling, or no ground readable 14 3

23 concepts give a ground. The statement "a host admits guests by fit with the body it carried in" fails. Space or design is the commonest ground by concepts (12), and ties by rooms (4). Most rulings give no ground and rest on a vote, a form, a list or a moderator's say. After the declaration I extended the ties ground to redress owed to a wronged group (PlaceNL c0081); without that the statement still fails. The coding is mine alone. Finding F-012. The six rooms whose own rulings are cited all have an empty pre-event brief. The seventh room, yugioh, holds another host's rulings on yugioh's request.

Rooms the canvas founded

78 of the 705 rooms have an empty pre-event brief (c2_empty_brief-p3.json). The two drawn by seed, CKCrusaders and placecanada, are side subs of a readership: r/CrusaderKings' readers and Canada's readers opened them for the canvas. Five more empty-brief rooms were read in pass 3: rainbowgrid (the makers of a work), purplecorner, greenlattice and orderofthebluecorner (colour factions), and pgang (opened in the last half hour around a template; its record names no parent). placeDE also has an empty brief and is a side sub of German readers.

The declared rule asked whether the bodies the canvas gathered run the story's steps after their founding, with a residue only at the opening. They do run the steps: calls, building, keeping, other rooms and the close. rainbowgrid is told whole. Three of the four bodies also carry residues past the opening: greenlattice and orderofthebluecorner host guests and rule on them, and orderofthebluecorner and purplecorner hold a colour faith that names the rival. The decision: the story's opening sentence on rooms with no readers before the canvas stands as a bound. What these bodies do as hosts and as colour faiths is a form the model does not reach, reported as a boundary at the return.

Membership carried in: the idiom rule

At empiredidnothingwrong I set a reading rule and kept it for the rest of the pass: where membership carried in only gives the idiom in which the story's steps are told, the room is told; where it picks the rival, the guest or the work, it is a residue. The topic's own picture (a nation's flag, a show's characters) is the story's opening, where members share a topic and propose a picture, so it is not a work that membership picks. Under this rule texas, placecanada, empiredidnothingwrong and stevenuniverse are told, and ten rooms carry a membership residue: anarcho_capitalism, sweden, unitedkingdom, texans, starcitizen, totallynotrobots, completeanarchy, CKCrusaders, orderofthebluecorner and purplecorner. The eight rooms read before the rule was set were checked against it afterwards, and none changes.

The rule was not declared before the pass, and the count depends on it. At pass 2, texas carried national history framing as a residue. Read by pass 2's practice, texas would be a residue again at pass 3, and placecanada possibly one, so told-with-residue would be 17 or 18, not 16. It would not rise above 18 by either reading. Under a reading that counts every membership carried in as a residue, which neither pass used, it would reach 19 or 20.

The onset contrast, pass 3

A20 holds on both sides: 48 of 57 early rooms and 2 of 2 late. Membership then attack holds in 25 of 40 early rooms and 2 of 4 late, and beats the null on neither. Upkeep then coalition holds in 0 of 4 late rooms. The late side is thin in every test, as at pass 2.

Part A, pass 3

Part B, pass 3

Unchanged. The one-line enrolment stays the provisional concept. Nothing in the pass 3 rooms argues for another.

Part C, pass 3: the model

The story, pass 3, and the rooms read against it

model/story-p3.md names all 20 arrows. The 32 rooms were drawn before any was opened (c2_story_draw_p3.py, seed 20261017): the three within-case rooms; the 18 pass 2 residue rooms; completeanarchy (most-placed fourth-order theme outside the model, Frame bridging); CKCrusaders and placecanada (empty brief); OKState and pgang (late side); no sampled fails, since all four of A20's sampled rooms hold; MonkeyIsland, purplecorner, swordartonline and smashbros (one per size quartile); shield and stevenuniverse (by seed). Eleven are fresh. Each was read whole, room page then forest. The largest forests were read in pages: stevenuniverse 1,343 lines in six, smashbros 866 in four, placecanada 694, texas 669, unitedkingdom 598.

The saturation line: told 16, told-with-residue 16, not-told 0 (pass 2: 14, 18, 0). Six of the 18 pass 2 residue rooms are now told: MiamiHurricanes, canucks, empiredidnothingwrong, guatemala, rainbowgrid and texas. Seven of the eleven fresh rooms are told (pass 2: 6 of 12 fresh). The three within-case rooms are told.

What pass 3's changes told: the host's line (A20) told the policing residue in texas, unitedkingdom, sweden and starcitizen; A06's and A09's clauses told canucks, empiredidnothingwrong and texans' carrying on; A10's bound told guatemala and MiamiHurricanes; the opening sentence told rainbowgrid and the founded rooms' beginnings.

The residues now cluster as follows:

What the structure showed that my notes did not predict. Hosts mostly rule without a ground, and where they give one it is space or design, not the body they carried in. Hosting comes before a coalition more often than after one. The six hosts in the vetting reading are rooms the canvas founded. And membership carried in mostly gives the idiom in which the steps are told; it picks the rival in a minority of rooms, and that minority is half the residue.

The criterion, applied to pass 3

Pass 3 is preferred to pass 2. The stopping rule cannot stop: 1 tier_history event, 2 arrow changes and changed story sentences. I do not declare a stop: half the rooms still carry a residue, and pass 3 changed two arrows. By the rule written before the pass, pass 3 is preferred and told-with-residue did not rise, so pass 3 goes to the reviewer's build leg (C2b). The fall to 16 rests in part on the idiom rule. The head carries that caveat to the build leg, and the reviewer's answers must be read with it.

The reviewer's build (C2b)

What the leg was asked

The PI's message: "C2a-03 is closed and pushed. This leg is C2b, the reviewer's build, as the stage file says and your pass 3 notes plan: pass 3 is preferred to pass 2 and told-with-residue did not rise, so pass 3 goes to the reviewer. Build the packet and close with the packets-out cut as section 6 says. J's rulings stand."

The packet, and what it does not serve

Stage C2 section 6 lists structure.md, fourth/fourth.jsonl, dimensions.jsonl, model.md, model/, the last story, the criterion paragraph and the verbs, under the 50 KB ceiling. Those files come to well over a megabyte: structure-p2.md is about 1 MB, the arrows ledger 70 KB, and model-p3.md alone 51,723 bytes. One packet can therefore serve only a selection. I chose what the five error kinds and the partition need. The next table lists the packet's six pages in order, with what each holds and its bytes.

page what it holds bytes
0-instruction.md the instruction verbatim; what is served and what is not; the served sha256 1,922
model-p3-sections.md model-p3.md's title line and three sections, verbatim: the prose, the elements, the arrows 30,232
story-p3.md the last story, whole 6,934
criterion.md the criterion paragraph of these notes, verbatim 1,836
tiers.md the dimensions and fourth-order themes, every third-order theme by name, and the stage's criterion for a fourth-order theme 9,333
verbs.md cite.py and mem.py read verbs, room always --no-canvas 571

The packet _packets-C2/C2-reviewer.md is 51,116 bytes against a ceiling of 51,200, sha256 08c64c7ae25ac29ccd164b57a01c36848fa190412219b4d74598e7351fc6bfbd. c2b_reviewer_sources.py writes the pages into out/_analysis/c2b/, and packets.py files joins them. The three model sections were checked as exact substrings of model-p3.md, and the story as the whole file. The packet carries no second-order theme id and no canvas field.

Why these pages. The arrows section holds every arrow's counts, null, early and late holds, mechanism, failure clause, bound, failing sampled rooms, transitions and quotes. A quote, count or order error would sit there. The elements table defines the ids. The prose and the story carry the claims a contradiction would set against each other. The tiers page is what a rival partition needs.

What is not served. model-p3.md's opening and nine of its sections: theorised arrows, the model on the dimensions, dynamics, ungrounded relationships, looked for and not found, the tiers and the unused themes, where the model should break, the three strongest arrows as artefacts, and two tests. The dimensions' questions, the structure files, and the ledgers as files are not served either; history.jsonl and the arrows' full sampled_against fields do not reach the reader. Errors in what is not served are out of this review's reach, and the check leg must say so.

The served sha256. The return's served names model-p3.md's sha256, aa75ee6c6230348f916b1e2fa6f2eacf0864d5f1750d657d5d5a21a005011b3e, as the file the sections were drawn from. The stage check matches it against the model files in out/, so model-p3.md must not be edited before the check leg reads the return.

A question to J (QC2-001), answered. I asked whether serving sections is acceptable, or whether J wants the model served whole in two parts to the one reader. The handler ruled under J's delegation of 23:26 Berlin. Serving sections is acceptable and the one packet stands as built, because two parts would change the instrument, which is J's call. Two things are owed. First, review-C2.md lists the ten parts of model-p3.md not served, by heading, above the instruction, and says the reader saw sections, not the whole file. That is done, and every heading was checked against the file. Second, in the check leg every error the reviewer reports is read against the whole model-p3.md, unserved sections included, before it is accepted or refused. An error the unserved text already answers is answered by pointing to that text.

The return

The PI's message: "the reviewer's dispatch is done; the reader left its file in _fleet_raw/C2/. This leg is C2c, the reviewer's check and the mid-stage interview, as the stage file says. J's rulings, including the answer to QC2-001, stand."

One reader, r1, returned one valid line on the first issue: claude-opus-5-5 through the CLI, packet sha256 08c64c7a… as built. Its served digest equals model-p3.md as it stands. It reports nine errors (order 3, quote 1, contradiction 4, count 1). It also gives a partition of 196 third-order themes into 28 groups, with T3-017 unplaced. The line is copied verbatim into review-C2.md. As QC2-001 asks, every error was read against the whole of model-p3.md, the nine unserved sections included, and against the record through c2c_concept_check.py.

The errors, one by one (rule 13)

  1. A01, order: refused. metroid/c0002 is cited under building and reporting the mark (P03), not under coordinates. Its words report a placed piece: "Zoom in without moving around to see the top of Samus's head." The call comes at h4.27 and the report at h4.29. The coordinate reading is printed beside the claim in model-p4.md.
  2. A02, quote: accepted. Both instances answer the start with a joining line cited under calling members in to place: "I'm in." (sips) and "I'm on my way!" (habs). They do not show calls gathering. Fixed in arrows.jsonl: opticgaming c0191 to c0192 ("We're all gonna have to come together to get it done.") and kerbalspaceprogram c0026 to c0028, both in rooms where the order holds. The count stands: in at most 10 of the 64 holding rooms is the first P01 concept a joining line (c2c_t3002_enrolments.txt, an upper bound, since its pattern also catches short calls). The wider point is pass 4's material. Calling members in to place holds joining lines (at most 218 of its 1,774 cited concepts), so P01 partly overlaps the one-line enrolment (P15). The unserved dimension table repeats the sips instance; model-p4.md replaces it.
  3. A04, order: accepted in part. The switzerland pair answers an upkeep call by invoking a treaty made earlier, so it does not show upkeep bringing the room to talk. The second instance comes from DestinyTheGame, where the order fails (first border talk h18.74, first upkeep h27.89). Fixed: unturned c0059 to c0060 ("Maybe we can arrange something with r/rarepuppers to get them to build somewhere else?", 53 minutes) and adventuretime c0064 to c0065 (14 minutes), both in rooms where the order holds. Refused: switzerland does not show the reverse order. Its first upkeep is at h5.38 and its first treaty talk at h18.62.
  4. A05, order: accepted. The printed instance, ubc/c0084, is one turn and is cited under no third-order theme. The ledger held two transitions that the model text never printed, so "each arrow rests on at least one transition" was true of the ledger and not of the served text. Fixed: A05 rests on asktransgender c0003 to c0004, a request over the border answered two minutes later by "We have a policy to not harm any artwork". The roosterteeth transition is dropped, because its second turn praises the border and does not spare anything. A05 stays thin.
  5. A20, contradiction: accepted. In the record, "holds" is defined on the order statement, which holds in transformers. The failure clause also covers a line that names no flood, and transformers' first line, at h80.40 after the close, names none. Fixed: transformers is recorded as a mechanism failure, the post-close judgment of the canvas's worth enters the bound and the counterexample response, F-010 is superseded by a bounded line, and transformers joins the next story draw. The unserved artefact section already conceded that P20 holds acts that need no call; the reviewer turned that into the failure clause. A20 stays strong on 132 of 155 rooms.
  6. A10, contradiction: accepted in part. Refused: the bound does not absorb the failures into the arrow's range. The bound and the counterexample response record guatemala and MiamiHurricanes as rooms where A10 does not hold, as rule 16's scope conditions. The failure clause is unchanged, and A10 stays thin on 11 of 21 rooms. Accepted: story-p3.md tags the sentence that tells those rooms with [A10], which presents a bound as a use (fixed with error 8).
  7. The founded hosts, contradiction: accepted. An empty pre-event brief does not show that the canvas founded a room; side subs and quiet subs have one too. story-p4.md and model-p4.md will say "have no posts in the week before the canvas". The unserved "where the model should break" bullet makes the same overreach, and so do these notes' pass 3 headings; F-012 is worded correctly.
  8. Bounds tagged as uses, contradiction: accepted. The sentences telling A06's, A09's and A10's bounds carry the arrow's id as if they were uses of the arrow. In story-p4.md a bound sentence names the bound ("A06's bound"), never the arrow alone. These are changes to sentences that name arrows, so the stopping rule counts them.
  9. "Present", count: accepted. "Present: in 53 of 190 rooms" counts the rooms where the order statement fails. The unserved artefact section says the same: "53 rooms report building before any call". The label sits after the failure clause, which is stricter (build reports only before any call, or no build report after a call), so the count does not measure the clause. In model-p4.md the line will say "the order fails in N of M rooms". The clause itself will be counted with the evidence script's second statement (some TO after the first FROM), whose failures are exactly the clause.

Where the fixes land. The ledger fixes are made now: A02, A04, A05 and A20 in arrows.jsonl, with four history lines (move relating or contrasting, snap C2-move-relating-42), and the superseding F-010 line. The prose fixes go into model-p4.md and story-p4.md, written at C2d-01. model-p3.md must keep its served digest, and story-p3.md is the text the reviewer and pass 3's rooms were read against. A fix reopens the loop, and the stopping rule counts from these changes.

The rival partition, read

The script c2c_partition_compare.py (output in c2c_partition_compare.txt) compares the two partitions. Of the third-order theme pairs, 441 are grouped together in both, 221 in mine only and 208 in the reviewer's only (Rand 0.978, adjusted Rand 0.661). The reviewer keeps six of my fourth-order themes exactly: Standardization of output, Workarounds, Backstage decision-making, Negotiated order, Completion ritual and Transition. Ten more have a Jaccard of 0.7 or more. 38 of 197 third-order themes leave their fourth-order theme's majority group.

What it shows about how determined the tier is. The tier is determined where the model has its arrows: the spine, the contest and the close. It is under-determined where pass 3's residues lie: membership carried in (Flagging the nation, Neo-tribes, Frame bridging), hosting, and the host sub. The reviewer's partition disagrees with mine in the same places the stories could not tell.

Pass 4 (C2d-01)

Before the pass

Declarations, written before any pass 4 count

  1. The hosting recut (rule 11, fourth-order tier). The four hosting themes move from Meta-organization (T4-018) to Territoriality (T4-014): asking a host for space (T3-035), disputing who approves a spot (T3-094), relying on a bigger neighbour (T3-099) and vetting others' requests to build (T3-162). The reason is pass 3's F-012 and the reviewer's partition. Hosting follows no coalition, it comes before one in 12 of 17 rooms, and hosts that give a ground rule on space or design. Neither name changes. Territoriality's question widens to who may hold which pixels, including whose works live on a room's mark. Meta-organization keeps the coalition themes (T3-013, T3-019, T3-056, T3-150, T3-153). Both themes are in D04, so no dimension changes. The coalition element (P17) loses its hosting clause as a logged element change. P19 stays a candidate. F-008 and F-012 are re-examined in the same act.
  2. The flag and emblem rule (rule 11, written before the second recut). A third-order theme whose acts draw or settle what the room's own mark shows belongs with Collective representation (T4-006). A theme whose acts claim, argue or narrate the nation beyond the mark belongs with Flagging the nation (T4-022). Each member of Flagging the nation is read against its gate in scheme_v2.jsonl. The fork's reading is that two members draw the mark: building the homeland's flag (T3-065) and drawing national emblems (T3-113). If the gates confirm it, those two move to Collective representation and Flagging the nation keeps the rest. That move crosses from D05 to D02, so the call to settle the mark (P02) gains concepts and membership carried in (K04) loses them. A11 is recounted on the new P02. Membership then attack is re-run on the new K04, and F-011 re-examined.
  3. The instance audit. Every support transition of every arrow is checked in this order:
    • (i) the room holds the arrow's order;
    • (ii) the two turns are in one thread, the second replies at some depth to the first, by another author, later;
    • (iii) both lines are cited under the two elements' themes;
    • (iv) the first line's words, read whole, do the FROM act;
    • (v) the second line does the TO act as a new act answering the first;
    • (vi) the printed quote is the store's text, with its hour and the interval. Checks (i), (ii), (iii) and (vi) are run by script; (iv) and (v) are read. An instance that fails is reported as failing, in the arrow's instance note and in model-p4.md, and not quietly swapped. A replacement is added beside it only after it passes all six.
  4. Retests after the recuts, under pass 1's statement and null (500 permutations within each room, seed 20261014). The number of tests run this pass is reported beside every result.
    • (a) Upkeep then coalition on the narrowed P17: A19's count. Pass 3's run on coalitions without hosting gave 0.719 against a p95 of 0.686.
    • (b) Border talk then coalition, and (c) exchange then coalition: the two pass 2 tests that failed, re-run on the narrowed P17. Mechanisms as at pass 2.
    • (d) Border talk then hosting (P08 to P19). Mechanism: a border settled or disputed is where a room asks to slip into another's lot, or rules on such a request. Fails if hosting comes only before any border talk, or a border settled is never followed by a request or a ruling.
    • (e) A11 on the new P02.
    • (f) Membership then attack on the new K04.
  5. The host's line by actor. The rulings (P20r) are routing canvas posts into megathreads (T3-015), removing canvas posts by rule (T3-063), opening a canvas sub (T3-090), moderators disowning the canvas work (T3-140), pausing the sub's usual events (T3-184) and changing the sub's posting rules (T3-185). The objections (P20o) are objecting to the canvas flood (T3-075) and arguing the canvas's worth (T3-037). Calls then rulings and calls then objections are both counted on concepts before hour 73, with the calls likewise. A20 whole is also recounted before hour 73, for comparison. The decision follows the counts:
    • If both beat the null, A20 stands on P20 whole, with both counts printed.
    • If only the rulings beat it, A20 is restated as the host sub's rulings, and the objections become a bound.
    • If only the objections beat it, A20 is restated as members' objections.
    • If neither beats it, the rooms where the first line removes the room's own first call are counted as the constitutive part, and A20 is demoted to thin or withdrawn by that count.
  6. The call and one-line joining. The arrows that use P01 (A01, A02, A15, A20) are recounted with P01 stripped of the concepts that c2c_t3002_enrolments.py's pattern reads as joining. The pattern over-reads, so the stripped P01 is stricter than the true one. If an arrow's beaten status changes, it is bounded on that. If none changes, P01's statement says it holds some joining lines the coders placed with calls, and the boundary is reported as read, not recut. In the story rooms the call and the joining line are read room by room.
  7. Failure clauses counted. For every counted order arrow, the evidence script's second statement is run: "in a room carrying both, some concept of TO comes after the first concept of FROM". Its failures are the rooms where TO comes only before any FROM, the first half of each failure clause. model-p4.md prints them beside the order-statement failures, and the label "Present" becomes "order fails in" (the reviewer's error 9).
  8. The idiom rule, declared before any room is opened. Membership carried in that only gives the idiom in which the story's steps are told counts as told. Membership that picks the rival, the guest or the work is a residue. The topic's own picture (a nation's flag or emblems, a show's characters, a team's logo) is the story's opening, not a work membership picks.
  9. The pass 4 story rooms, drawn by c2_story_draw_p4.py with seed 20261018 before any room is opened:
    • the three within-case rooms;
    • every pass 3 told-with-residue room (16);
    • every room marked as failing, on the order or the mechanism, in a sampled_against entry changed since pass 3 (transformers among them);
    • one room whose most-placed fourth-order theme lies outside the model;
    • two rooms with no posts in the pre-event week;
    • two late-side rooms;
    • one room per quartile of items_in_window;
    • two rooms by seed from the rest. Apart from the within-case and residue rooms, no room read at passes 1 to 3 is drawn again.
  10. The story's fixes from the reviewer:
    • bound sentences name the bound ("A06's bound"), never the arrow alone (errors 6 and 8);
    • "rooms with no posts in the week before the canvas" replaces "rooms the canvas founded" (error 7);
    • the new instances and transformers' failure are told where the story uses those arrows.
  11. The criterion, as written before pass 1. Pass 4 is kept over pass 3 only if it meets the criterion better; a tie goes to the earlier pass. A rise in told-with-residue over pass 3's 16 is a stopping failure. The count and the share are both reported.

Part A, pass 4: the two recuts

Part B, pass 4

Unchanged. The one-line enrolment stays the provisional concept. The call holds some joining lines the coders placed with calls. A pattern that over-reads finds at most 228 of the 1,980 concepts cited under the call's themes. With all of them stripped out, no arrow from the call changes its beaten status. The boundary is reported as read, not recut.

Part C, pass 4: the tests, the audit, the model

The story, pass 4, and the rooms read against it

model/story-p4.md names all 20 arrows. The 32 rooms were drawn before any was opened (c2_story_draw_p4.py, seed 20261018), by declaration 9:

Each was read whole, room page then forest. The largest were read in pages: thebluecorner 1,258 room lines in six pages and 4,350 forest lines in thirteen, sweden 2,243 forest lines in eight, smashbros 866 in three.

The saturation line: told 11, told-with-residue 21, not-told 0 (pass 3: 16, 16, 0). Told-with-residue rose from 16 to 21, a stopping failure. The next table splits each pass's verdicts by why the room was drawn.

pass within-case rooms rooms carried from the last pass's residue fresh rooms
2 3 told 5 told, 12 residue 6 told, 6 residue
3 3 told 6 told, 12 residue 7 told, 4 residue
4 3 told 0 told, 16 residue 8 told, 5 residue

The rise has one source. Pass 3 told 6 of the 18 rooms it carried; pass 4 told none of its 16. Fresh rooms carried a residue at the same rate as pass 3 (5 of 13 against 4 of 11).

What pass 4's changes told: transformers is told, because a judgment after the close is now A20's bound. They narrowed four carried rooms without telling them: placeDE, catalunya and unitedkingdom, where the land's flag is now the room's picture, and bih, where an argument over the canvas's worth after the close is now A20's bound.

The 21 residues cluster as follows:

What the structure showed that my notes did not predict

In three of the five fresh rooms with a residue, the rival is named by a league or school rivalry: lakers (the Celtics), rpi (WPI) and cardinals (the Cubs). None of the three carries a concept under any of K04's themes. The coders placed the rivalry only inside the attack and taunt themes (Repertoire of contention, T4-020, and Rivalry, T4-021). epublica carries neither. The rival is named in the same turn that calls the attack: "(720,667) on /r/place celtics are trying to make a symbol! You know what to do" [lakers/c0050, h31.89]; "Help us hijack the WPI r/place!" [rpi/c0024, h55.46]. A test of membership before attack cannot count these rooms, because the two acts are one turn. F-011's failure says that membership carried in does not come first. It does not say that membership does not pick the rival.

The criterion, applied to pass 4

Pass 3 stays preferred to pass 4. The first test got worse, so this is not a tie. Pass 4 is a stopping failure, and its residues are pass 5's material.

The pass 3 versions are the ones the model rests on. These pass 4 changes are discarded:

These are kept:

The files edited in place hold pass 4's state, each change with its old state in a history line. QC2-002 asks J whether pass 5 works from pass 4's state or restores pass 3's first. Meanwhile pass 5 works from pass 4's state. If pass 5 does not beat pass 3, C2d-02 restores pass 3's tier and element state from the history lines, keeps the accepted fixes, and reports what was discarded.

The stopping rule cannot stop: 12 tier_history events, 1 arrow bounded and changed story sentences. I do not declare a stop. Pass 4 is a stopping failure, and the last closing pass is C2d-02.

done.sh C2 runs the same check at the close. Its report is in the leg's closing diary line.

Pass 5 (C2d-02)

Before the pass

Declarations, written before any pass 5 count

  1. The criterion is a guide. The three counts are reported for every pass and read as a trend. They do not decide which pass the model rests on. The model rests on the changes I believe, each with its reason, and no element is loosened to fit a room.
  2. Pass 4's changes, kept one by one.
    • The hosting recut is kept. Hosting comes before a coalition in 12 of the 17 rooms carrying both and follows no exchange, coalition, upkeep or border talk. Hosts that give a ground most often give space or design (F-012). The reviewer's partition put hosting with space. I believe hosting is a claim on space.
    • The flag and emblem recut is kept. Read against their gates, building the homeland's flag and drawing national emblems draw the room's own mark. Read whole at pass 4, placeDE, catalunya and unitedkingdom settle their flags as any room settles its picture.
    • The three element restatements are kept: the coalition element without hosting, the call to settle the mark with the land's flag and emblems, and the membership candidate without them. They follow from the two recuts.
    • The coalition arrow's recount and bound are kept, thin: on coalitions alone it holds in 87 of 121 rooms (0.719), above the null's 95th percentile of 0.678 by 0.041.
    • The instance audit is kept. It describes instances, and its failures stay printed.
    • Dropped: none. I would drop the coalition arrow if its count fell under the null's 95th percentile on any recount; none is planned.
  3. The claim, in the rooms' words (J's ruling). A new element of kind claim, the next free id C02: "In some rooms, a tie the members had before the canvas (a league or school rivalry, a nation's history, an ideology, lore, a colour faith) names the rival in the same turn that calls or carries out the attack." Marked untested for order. It stands as a claim with no arrow, like C01, and enters the model as a claim, not as a process.
    • How its evidence is chosen. The candidates are the turns cited in the residue clauses of the story-room verdict lines, passes 1 to 4, of the rooms whose residue says membership names the rival. A script prints each candidate's text through cite.py. A turn is evidence only if its words do all three: (a) call for or carry out an attack on another room's work; (b) name the rival; (c) name the tie or rest on it. Only turns that pass all three are cited.
    • What it does not claim. It does not claim an order, a share of rooms, or that membership causes the attack. The membership candidate stays a candidate, and F-011 stands.
    • A finding comes first. F-013 is written with the cited turns before the element is logged.
    • Corrected after the candidates were listed, before the finding was written. The statement above put "a colour faith" among the ties the members had before the canvas. The colour factions in these rooms are bodies the canvas gathered, so their faith is not a tie from before the canvas. C02's statement drops it: "In some rooms, a tie the members had before the canvas (a league or school rivalry, a nation's history, an ideology, lore) names the rival in the same turn that calls or carries out the attack." Colour-faction turns that pass the three checks are reported under the first boundary of declaration 4, not as C02's evidence.
  4. Boundaries at the return (rule 12). Two forms the model does not reach are stated as boundaries in model-p5.md and in the story's closing section. No element is added or loosened for them.
    • Colour factions the canvas gathered: their faith names rivals, rules on guests and splits over doctrine.
    • Hosts that rule on guests, with readers before the canvas or without.
  5. The story, pass 5. model/story-p5.md is pass 4's story with two changes:
    • one sentence in the contest section tells the claim, named as the claim and as untested for order;
    • the closing section names the two boundaries. Every other sentence change is listed in the saturation line.
  6. The pass 5 story rooms, drawn by c2_story_draw_p5.py with seed 20261019 before any room is opened:
    • the three within-case rooms;
    • every pass 4 told-with-residue room (21);
    • every room marked failing in a sampled_against entry changed since pass 4;
    • one room whose most-placed fourth-order theme lies outside the model;
    • two rooms with no posts in the pre-event week;
    • two late-side rooms;
    • one room per quartile of items_in_window;
    • two rooms by seed from the rest. Apart from the within-case and residue rooms, no room read at passes 1 to 4 is drawn again. The idiom rule of declaration 8 at pass 4 stands, and C02 tells a residue only where a room's words show the claim. Hosting rulings and colour faiths stay residues.
  7. The close. This is the last closing pass. The close says what I am sure of, what I am not, and why. It ends with the stage's final message, handback-C2.md, the head and done.sh C2.

Part A, pass 5

Part B, pass 5: the last answer

The concept is the one-line enrolment (concept.md, P15, A12). It is chosen, and it stays marked as recalled against the literature until stage C3. Nothing at pass 5 argues for another. The claim C02 was considered as a candidate and rejected: a rival known before the canvas named in the attack call is rivalry and frame bridging, both named in the recalled literature (Kilduff and colleagues; Snow and colleagues). The candidate I came closest to choosing instead is still organizing without decided order. concept.md carries this answer in a pass 5 section.

Part C, pass 5: the model

The story, pass 5, and the rooms read against it

model/story-p5.md is pass 4's story with the claim sentence in the contest section and the closing section rewritten. 35 rooms were drawn by c2_story_draw_p5.py (seed 20261019) before any was opened, by declaration 6. No sampled_against entry changed since pass 4, so no room was drawn as a changed fail. Each room was read whole, room page then forest, and the largest in pages.

The saturation line: told 16, told-with-residue 19, not-told 0. The next table splits each pass's verdicts by why the room was drawn (c2d2_p5_split.py for passes 4 and 5).

pass within-case rooms rooms carried from the last pass's residue fresh rooms
2 3 told 5 told, 12 residue 6 told, 6 residue
3 3 told 6 told, 12 residue 7 told, 4 residue
4 3 told 0 told, 16 residue 8 told, 5 residue
5 3 told 7 told, 14 residue 6 told, 5 residue

The criterion, applied to pass 5, as a guide

The model rests on pass 5. J ruled that the criterion is a guide, not the judge, and that a rise in residue is not a failure. I keep every pass 4 change because I believe it, for the reasons in declaration 2: hosting is a claim on space, the land's flag is the mark's content, and the coalition arrow beats its null on coalitions alone. Pass 3's state would put hosting back inside coalitions, which pass 3's own hosting tests did not support. Pass 5 adds a claim that tells 7 rooms in their own words. Nothing was dropped at pass 5. Pass 4's section above discarded its own changes under the criterion as judge; that discard is reversed here, change by change. model-p5.md and model/story-p5.md are the resting versions. model-p3.md stays the text the reviewer read.

The stopping rule. Pass 5 had 0 tier_history events and 0 arrow changes, but the story changed: the claim sentence names an element. The rule needs two such passes in a row, so it cannot stop. I declare the stop under the licence from the third pass on, and because J ruled this the last closing pass. What the last passes changed: two recuts at pass 4; a claim and two boundaries at pass 5. Why another pass might change more: Visibility returns now carries six rooms' residue and has never been tested as an element, so a further pass could add it. I do not claim another pass would change nothing. The rooms that argue against stopping: parahumans, scp, TheAdventuresofTintin, shishamo, hunterxhunter and luciomains (Visibility returns); sweden and placeDE, where I judged attack calls naming a national rival without the tie in their words; starcitizen, texans and totallynotrobots, where membership picks something other than the attack's target.

What I am sure of, what I am not, and why

Sure.

Not sure.

What the structure showed that my notes did not predict, pass 5

Slips, pass 5

The close-check, pass 5

python3 tools/validate.py C2, run after the saturation line and the F-013 correction, before the head was rewritten:

stage C2:
  elements 28, arrows 20 (20 in the model), fourth-order themes 28, dimensions 8, passes 5, findings 13

warn saturation.jsonl: told-with-residue rose from 16 to 21 at pass 4; a rise is a stopping failure and the residues are the next pass's material

0 errors (0 distinct shapes), 1 warnings

done.sh C2 runs the same check at the close. Its report is in the leg's closing diary line.
