Cut and limits

These constructs group coder themes by the practical work their passages do. All names are coined here, with no borrowed theory source. The original labels, codes and optional pre-R1 names remain unchanged. Each theme travels on exemplars, not a prevalence claim. No relational arrow follows from membership. R4 will test the dynamic account.

T4-001: Directional reach

Keeping current directions where helpers can find them. Declaration: coined; source empty. Public instructions need both freshness and an audience. A stale copy, a named live channel and wider circulation address where a helper can obtain usable directions. Moving tasks into Discord and sending designs to other public venues differ in how access is sought. Neither establishes that the recipient followed the advice.

Members: t01, t02, t13. Question: How do directions become available to people who might help?

What varies: Official plan versus advice; central live channel versus wider public circulation; invitation versus reported staleness.

Nearest distinction: Reach and freshness distinguish this from choosing the pixel task in T4-002 and carrying it out through tools in T4-004. It excludes: Any mention of Discord, a completed artwork or an unobserved migration.

Least certain member, t13: Crossposting advice changes who might see a direction, but its first title does not show substantive advice or uptake. Keeping it here captures circulation; treating it as contextual would lose little claim strength.

A reader might mistake it for Information centralization; reach here includes public crossposting and does not imply a single center. It would fail elsewhere if: Directions remain equally available and current without any circulation, update or venue work.

Dimension: D01.

T4-002: Pixel work selection

Making a next task concrete while choosing between adding, keeping and taking. Declaration: coined; source empty. Participants make a proposed use of pixels available for others to assess or join. A design supplies an object; a maintenance priority reserves effort for existing work; an attack names ground to take. These acts put alternatives before placers without settling an agreed community goal. The contrast among building, holding and taking is part of the construct.

Members: t03, t04, t05, t06. Question: How does an open field of possible marks become a proposed task?

What varies: Question, design, correction or command; preserving existing work versus adding images versus taking territory.

Nearest distinction: The task's object belongs here; mutual obligations toward another claimant belong in T4-003, and disputes over the purpose or legitimacy of shared action in T4-005. It excludes: Evidence of collective agreement, completed implementation or moral approval of conquest.

Least certain member, t06: Calls to attack choose a task as concretely as house designs do. Yet conquest language can make them look like achievement claims in T4-006. Prospective calls and claimed possession are kept together as the coder's taking-ground practice; retrospective celebration remains in T4-006.

A reader might mistake it for Goal consensus; a public candidate task does not establish agreement. It would fail elsewhere if: Proposals and priorities do not specify any different object or use of work and only celebrate participation.

Dimension: D01.

T4-003: Negotiated coexistence

Offering room, restraint or repair while managing claims from neighbors. Declaration: coined; source empty. Participants address other claimants as people with whom use of space can be arranged. Sparing an existing object, promising to rebuild it and inviting a displaced group to apply all qualify territorial control through a claim to coexistence. Reciprocity ranges from a border left alone to defense in return for space. Allocation retains a host's authority and does not make the bargain equal.

Members: t07, t08, t09. Question: How are competing occupants offered a place in or beside claimed territory?

What varies: Preventing damage versus returning space; informal plea versus host review; unconditional restraint versus conditional defense exchange.

Nearest distinction: A relation to another claimant separates this from unilateral target selection in T4-002 and conflict within the acting group over what its joint activity should mean in T4-005. It excludes: Proof that all Dutch placers honor an agreement, or that every applicant receives land.

Least certain member, t09: Application review can be read as territorial rule rather than cooperation. It stays because the applications negotiate who may build and what they owe. The host/applicant asymmetry remains explicit instead of treating the offer as equal partnership.

A reader might mistake it for Consensus or equal partnership; hosts retain claims and public promises may fail. It would fail elsewhere if: Other claimants receive no standing in decisions and purported bargains have no terms of restraint, repair or use.

Dimension: D02.

T4-004: Limits of practical direction

Making scripts and instructions work while naming who or what escapes them. Declaration: coined; source empty. Instructions depend on access to tools and on the people placing pixels. Updating a script, waiting for permission and distinguishing organized users from other placers all address the reach of practical control. The material includes successful repair, contested diagnoses and principled objections. It therefore supports a question about the conditions of direction rather than a blanket failure mechanism.

Members: t10, t11. Question: What makes a direction executable, and where does execution escape it?

What varies: Working repair versus reported obstruction; absent updater versus independent placers; technical access versus objection to using the tool.

Nearest distinction: Operational ability and its reported limits belong here; the content of an instruction belongs in T4-002 and disputes over which common purpose to pursue in T4-005. It excludes: Every failure caused by a script, a measured share of rogue users or proof that moderators control no one.

Least certain member, t11: A poem and reputational criticism can merely retell action. They remain attributed diagnoses of the boundary of direction; they cannot independently prove what caused a failed design. A tool-only partition would lose the explicit organized/non-Discord distinction.

A reader might mistake it for Technical determinism; the text supplies rival diagnoses and people beyond the tool. It would fail elsewhere if: Updates are always executable by any helper and every placer reliably follows directions, with apparent obstacles traced elsewhere.

Dimension: D01.

T4-005: Contested collective purpose

Disputing whether shared strength should remove, preserve or draw together. Declaration: coined; source empty. Participants claim different ends for the same collective activity. The Yeti dispute turns that difference into removal scripts, restoration and demands for an account. The closing reply exchange states a difference between taking projects and drawing together. Their common practice is challenging what action in the group's name should accomplish; the Yeti supplies enacted conflict while the closing exchange supplies explicit competing purposes.

Members: t14, t17. Question: What counts as a proper end for action in the group's name?

What varies: Concrete artwork struggle versus explicit retrospective explanation; removal versus rebuilding; appeal to group preference versus individual freedom.

Nearest distinction: An internal conflict over ends separates this from making an agreement with a neighbor in T4-003 and from diagnosing implementation limits in T4-004. It excludes: A community-wide reversal of opinion, a tactical disagreement alone or proof who erased an object.

Least certain member, t14: The template exchange itself supplies technical aid, and the dispute could sit under coexistence. It stays here because the same named artwork receives incompatible action commitments. The successful supply of a template remains visible; disappearance cannot identify the remover.

A reader might mistake it for Collective goal change; different speakers express different ends without a common conversion. It would fail elsewhere if: Participants share the same desired outcome and all apparent opposition concerns only the means of achieving it.

Dimension: D02.

T4-006: Shared achievement claims

Making the activity count as a Dutch achievement and a remembered event. Declaration: coined; source empty. Celebration, thanks and keepsakes give the activity an audience and a shared past. They claim that what people made or did deserves pride, acknowledgment or preservation. Live victory claims differ from farewell and later archiving, but each makes participation and its products available as an achievement to share. They need not endorse the same account of conquest.

Members: t12, t15, t16. Question: How do participants claim something worth sharing after or during joint work?

What varies: Live victory versus farewell; song performance versus stored image or history; praise versus joking or critical retelling.

Nearest distinction: Retrospective or celebratory valuation belongs here; prospective task choice in T4-002 and actionable continuation invitations remain outside. It excludes: Independent verification of survival, unanimous pride or evidence that remembered actions caused current outcomes.

Least certain member, t16: An archive can simply store information and a history can criticize the group. The theme remains because making the event shareable and memorable holds its varied media together. The archival example supports preservation of an account, not a measured collective identity.

A reader might mistake it for Identity consensus; a shared object of remembrance can carry competing judgments. It would fail elsewhere if: Thanks, result links and histories only convey present task instructions and do not value or preserve participation or its products.

Dimension: none. Achievement and remembrance do not address either current direction or competing rights to space. A one-member dimension would only rename this theme.

What no higher theme picked up

t18, carrying pixel play and the community on elsewhere: Two invitations continue different activities elsewhere; no observed uptake. A higher theme would rename this coder theme rather than explain a shared practice with another.

t19, finding out too late that Place had ended: Late discovery and an impossible proposal mark the external time limit and uneven awareness. Keep as contextual contrast, not a residual organizing construct.

t20, joking back at a summoned bot: One sarcastic bot reply does not ground a broader organizing practice.

t21, calling the Dutch group real jerks: Accusation survives without its grounds; cannot place it as purpose conflict or diplomatic failure.

Grouping review

I compared what exchanges do rather than their shared references to flags, scripts or Discord. One all-purpose coordination theme would erase the difference between reaching helpers, choosing tasks and making directions executable. Keeping scripts alone would lose the organized/non-Discord boundary that participants invoke when a promise cannot control every placer. Splitting every script objection off as purpose conflict would treat a disputed means as an explicit disagreement over ends.

A single coexistence/conflict theme was also considered. Negotiating with a claimant asks how to live beside it; the internal Yeti conflict asks which outcome the acting group should pursue. The shared artwork does not settle that difference. The Yeti's technical help remains successful as help even when restoration fails. Its separate script and control diagnoses stay in the coder themes that already consolidate those practices.

I rejected merging conquest proposals with conquest celebrations. One seeks work now, the other values or retells an achievement. Their shared national language remains a form-pass finding. I also rejected putting late discovery, continuation and keepsakes into a single after-event theme: the clock alone does not make them one practice. No coder theme was split or multiply placed. The most doubtful retained bundle is practical direction's limits because its diagnoses range from tooling to criticism; its gate limits what each attribution can establish.
