Episode accounts before model arrows
Target length: under 1,600 words.
These episodes were chosen in notes-R4.md before their R4 source openings. This account uses codes and original coder descriptions only. It precedes any dynamic-model arrow. Raw context qualifies the closed codes; it does not add or alter coding.
Ordinary:
E-03, making an ostehøvel and keeping it recognizable
At hour 23.37611111111111, a participant asks whether the room can
make an ostehøvel, a cheese slicer. c0073 ([deleted]; hour
23.37611111111111; item 62tc6z; thread 62tc6z;
offsets 0-27): "Kan vi få til en ostehøvel?". The question opens a
concrete object rather than asks for undifferentiated Norwegian
territory. A following comment reports beginning its top pixels and asks
for attention to the outline. The coded words are c0074
([deleted]; hour 23.435277777777777; item dfp0igc; thread
62tc6z; offsets 156-178): "fokuser på omrisset nå". The
full thread shows why an outline mattered: a participant thought it
might let others see what they were trying to make. This is that
participant's proposed reason, not a verified effect on everyone placing
pixels.
Work was not frictionless. Replies complain about waiting between
placements. An attempt to obtain another contribution through a
temporary-email account appears in c0075
(bcG+TPLrgB9ojLzNUOLVZkq9LVk=; hour 23.720277777777778; item
The full source adds
that the pixel seemed to disappear on refresh, so the coded attempt is
not evidence that a new account increased capacity. Another participant
reports contacting people already changing the drawing:
c0076 (bcG+TPLrgB9ojLzNUOLVZkq9LVk=; hour
24.26638888888889; item dfp2ndy; thread
62tc6z; offsets 0-66): "Prøver å pm de som som setter
randome pixler så kanskje de hjelper". This is recruitment addressed to
observed interference, not proof that every addressee joined.
At hour 25.851666666666667, yyn0cHbn9bQ982dWHq800BamX2k= reports
completion and a new framing task: c0077
(yyn0cHbn9bQ982dWHq800BamX2k=; hour 25.851666666666667; item
Later discussion
warns that the flag is being built across it. A separate instruction
permits continued flag work around the slicer, not through it:
c0101 (l8FtAdiKn2aXr4haywI+TdiLAX4=; hour
27.10861111111111; item 62uqyo; thread 62uqyo;
offsets 0-41): "Fortsett gjerne flagget rundt ostehøvelen". By hour
30.697222222222223 an original template is offered to people who want to
maintain the drawing: c0139 ([deleted]; hour
30.697222222222223; item dfpi6y3; thread
Thus a proposed object acquires outline work, recruitment, a reported finish, framing and maintenance. The same sequence contains interference and difficulty, not a frictionless common purpose. Completion does not finish all care for the object, and the presence of a template does not establish compliance. Reports are evidence of what participants said happened; no image was inspected. The observed edge is the later maintenance offer, not the last reply in the first thread. Nor does this account show that a single leader directed all participants. It shows linked contributions to a named task, with practical specificity and a continuing need to preserve its recognizable form.
Unpredicted:
E-04, gathering event posts and catching an unrelated Oslo
request
At hour 23.63388888888889, a participant complains about the flag
threads filling the front page: c0079
(r1yDMNXje2OgTpJ4hmOdw28b1Ls=; hour 23.63388888888889; item
62tflm; thread 62tflm; offsets 39-92): "Det er
16 tråder på forsiden om de fuckings flaggene.". Another asks to let the
room enjoy April Fools. These positions concern how the subreddit should
be used, not simply which drawing should win. A moderator then creates a
collection thread and announces a lock policy: c0136
(L6kr5bqyfyFwi3yj29qSG59uoqM=; hour 30.456666666666667; item
62w0bf; thread 62w0bf; offsets 112-266):
"Derfor er det nå opprettet en samletråd. Alle poster som er på /r/Norge
om /r/place, vil bli låst 01:00, slik at de naturlig kan forsvinne ut av
forsiden.". Notices repeat across existing threads. The text gives a
reason for the locks: letting those threads disappear from the front
page. It does not show a corresponding ability to stop or direct canvas
placements.
At hour 43.96944444444444, XzuZ4yOYindnL+L7QH817Oui5y8= reports an
enforcement action: c0082 (XzuZ4yOYindnL+L7QH817Oui5y8=;
hour 43.96944444444444; item dfq4ci4; thread
62tflm; offsets 100-171): "klikket jeg akkurat "Remove" på
alle tråder opprettet etter samletråden". That is a claim to have
removed posts created after the collection thread, not a measure of how
many participants complied. The redirection practice continues into new
proposals and disputes.
The unexpected instance appears at hour 52.95388888888889 in thread
632725. Its retained source title asks about places to
visit in Oslo; its body is removed. EA1r+K5p/lVBLesLhCFRrKOPN+I= gives
the event-thread instruction: c0199
(EA1r+K5p/lVBLesLhCFRrKOPN+I=; hour 52.95388888888889; item
dfqpgp8; thread 632725; offsets 0-89): "Bruk
samletråden".
The full thread explicitly identifies the reply as automatic. The
mismatch is positively visible, although the missing body prevents a
full account of the request and the record does not expose the bot's
matching rule. It would be unwarranted to infer the exact trigger or a
moderator's intention from that title.
After original placement closes, a moderator opens another collection
thread because the old one is too large and confusing:
c0258 (freiiiNBDp1P6SCJ1bvR0IObNXY=; hour
77.08777777777777; item 639l4l; thread 639l4l;
ny.". Event-related removal directions continue through hour 92.51 in
c0292.
The same policy therefore has intended concentration, continuing enforcement, a false-positive application and later replacement of an unwieldy collection thread. A story in which gathering event discussion automatically makes participation more accessible would miss both the unrelated travel request and the need to gather anew. This episode was not unknown before modelling: its analytical unpredictability is that the gathering practice alone does not predict misclassification. Nor does a mistaken redirect prove all concentration failed. The account preserves both the practical policy and its specific failure of targeting.
Stopped
early: E-09, a Sami drawing lost before the event ends
At hour 28.059444444444445, a participant asks about including the
Sami: c0113 (Er6GO2pPyGJjFfN/1DEU7tDXNmc=; hour
28.059444444444445; item 62v431; thread
62v431; offsets 0-15): "Hva med samene?". In the full
source, others support the proposal and ask where to begin.
Ul174uRkI+GmArrQeC/xw69Edkw= reports starting a Sami flag above the
Norwegian one and requests help with part of its colours:
c0114 (Ul174uRkI+GmArrQeC/xw69Edkw=; hour
28.456666666666667; item dfpcxbm; thread
Another participant offers
a rough sketch: c0115 (K2TdJZ1SU51hjaSMZGl217bEiwo=; hour
30.285555555555554; item dfph8tp; thread
62v431; offsets 0-36): "Jeg har lagd en veldig grov
[Sketsj]". The source expands that sketch into pixel counts and
discusses where the circle should begin. Those contextual details show
practical work, not an inference from an identity label alone.
This work also needs protection from an activity associated with the
same Norwegian flag. While participants discuss correcting the flag's
proportions, Ul174uRkI+GmArrQeC/xw69Edkw= adds c0121
(Ul174uRkI+GmArrQeC/xw69Edkw=; hour 29.670555555555556; item
dfpfsy1; thread 62vn3k; offsets 11-49): "bare
ikke ødelegg sameflagg-prosjektet". That request makes the possible
conflict specific: fixing one drawing could destroy another. The source
also contains support for a doubled Norwegian flag, so the proposal's
early agreement cannot stand for agreement among all placers.
At hour 51.14527777777778, a later exchange reports the Sami drawing
lost: c0191 (A1/3XmvH8kP+71RuiiogbxIBIZk=; hour
51.14527777777778; item dfqkn68; thread
631h35; offsets 0-31): "dessverre over og ut for samene". A
following joke calls it forcibly integrated. The joke is not additional
independent verification, but the explicit loss report is stronger
evidence of a stopped drawing than silence after a proposal would
be.
Relocation remains possible in the discussion: c0027
(KpjxV4xSsPPXhJNkRNfV9ROGIBk=; hour 52.03888888888889; item
dfqn2rf; thread 62no9u; offsets 0-85): "Ser
ikke noe problem i å ha sameflagg? Kanskje plassere sameflagget et annet
sted? :P". After closure, someone asks why the Sami flag was added and
removed. The answer is c0262 (l8FtAdiKn2aXr4haywI+TdiLAX4=;
hour 77.91916666666667; item dfsestb; thread
The
speaker's opening expression of belief matters. This is an explanation
attributing unfulfilled relocation to effort going into expansion, not
proof that every participant knowingly chose that trade-off. The text
supplies no restored Sami drawing.
This episode limits an account built from usable instructions, early support and a sketch. Those can coexist with the loss of the task's object. Its observed edge extends into the later explanation, but that does not make the drawing last until then. Loss of this drawing is also not an end to Norwegian organizing: other work and later successor recruitment remain in the record. The limit is failure to preserve this particular project amid competing contributions, with the later relocation outcome still open.
