Chronology

The supplied record is silent for the first 6.99 hours after the canvas opened. When the room first appears at d0 03-31 22:59, it is already deciding how a growing heart band should meet other work: 62otm8 asks people to discuss an overlay with Blue “to preserve art.” From 62otm8 to 62q9s0, slice 01 shows people choosing rows, orientation and borders, publishing a pattern, and making a sign so scattered builders can find the plans. This stretch comes from the first slice case and forest; the openings were read beforehand only as orientation.

The first bounded episode of care for neighbouring work runs from 62pjwk to dfozl3h. Participants warn that expansion is covering a marriage proposal, contact its author, and try to preserve it. The author later says “I'm giving up” and directs them to “fight the void” in dfozc65; dfozl3h answers “Okay, will do” while asking about screenshots. That is a documented release and response, not evidence that every heart placer changed course.

From 62r8ve through 636qhb, across batches 01–03, the room repeatedly negotiates with Blue, Rainbow Road, France, Ireland, the Void, AvoArmy, the Lakers and smaller neighbours. The practice varies: people offer coloured hearts and borders, report Discord agreements, refuse expansion, accuse others of breaking compromises, or disavow unaffiliated pixels. Alongside it, from 62vgdu through 636x0o, requests increasingly use a heart as a small place for a country, pride flag, fandom or character; makers ask permission, reuse duplicates, report repairs, and promise maintenance. These are overlapping practices, not one consensus: for example, 630j5w announces “STOP EXPANSION SOUTH” and “REBUILD what we have destroyed,” while 6356l7 asks where people can start “claiming new land.” [crosses 01|02] [crosses 02|03]

Near the end, defense and representation remain active from 63703r through 637zbi, but shutdown changes what people can do. Between 6383gl and 6386qs, participants lament the final image, argue over the last pink pixel in the OG heart, joke about “PlaceFarts,” and realize that placement has ended. The stickied moderator post 6386qs turns the week into a participant account: vigilance let the group “thrive until the very end,” lost allies are named, surviving allies are thanked, and people are invited to leave images and stories.

After closure, 638gkr through dfsutna shows farewells, renewed argument about the French flag, and attempts to carry heart-making elsewhere. 63bmzb opens a PlaceTwo negotiation by offering help if hearts go around a dragonball; dfsutna accepts the proposed section and says, “I'm going to fill the background in with pink.” The later connection failures mean the corpus supports an agreed plan and attempted continuation, not a completed successor build.

Relations — what set off what

The marriage proposal's obstruction prompted direct contact: dfolnza says “some of the hearts are covering the message” and that the author had been messaged. The author's later release in dfozc65 explicitly prompts dfozl3h to answer “Okay, will do.” This supports a local relation between the release and the reply; it does not establish central control of the canvas.

Rainbow Road's expected collision elicited a negotiated design. 62s7t7 asks to “get this sorted before the hivemind goes crazy”; 62shoc subsequently reports that “Horizontal Hearts were polled” and instructs people not to edit until the road is closer. The words support a response to the projected crossing, while the interval is reported only as an observed sequence because the two posts do not say the first caused the poll.

Ireland's request for the “SAME ACCESS as France” receives an explicit refusal in dfq9wpp: “we do not want Ireland to expand any further… Please stop.” The later post 630j5w says both Ireland venues “hear you,” will stop southward expansion and will rebuild damage. The refusal and announcement form a supported sequence, but the later speaker does not identify the refusal as its cause. [crosses 02|03]

The Lakers exchange contains a participant's own causal explanation. The request 6379mw asks the hearts to stop “eating into” the logo; dfrtkcg answers that “The issue stems from /r/Lakers forcefully taking over space occupied by numerous hearts.” A critic then asks in dfrz17q how many designs the hearts “plow[ed] over,” and dfrzkzo answers with a list of negotiated boundaries and the claim of “no significant expansion in the past 2 days.” This establishes accusation, answer and self-explanation—not an independently verified causal finding.

The shutdown is recognized through inability to act: dfsg3fw says the speaker wondered why they “couldnt place more hearts” before realizing place had ended. In the successor exchange, 63bmzb requests work around a dragonball, a reply proposes a border, and dfsutna explicitly accepts: “That's a great idea.” Here the reply content plus the tree supports the request–proposal–acceptance relation; the tree's adjacency alone would not.

Posts against comments

The post layer makes the room look orderly: pattern posts, alliance proposals, heart requests and the rules post present a venue able to allocate designs and borders. Comments supply much of the actual operating work—coordinates, “working on it” replies, finished-heart reports, Discord routing and repair updates—and repeatedly limit that apparent authority.

The clearest contradiction is the Lakers thread. The post 6379mw attributes encroachment to “you guys”; the comment dfrz17q likewise accuses the hearts of plowing over designs, while dfrzkzo says participants worked with factions and stopped significant expansion at established borders. This is a descriptive contrast between layers and speakers, not evidence that the community changed its mind. Similarly, 6386qs says the group stayed positive, while dfs45x7 reports a French forum that wanted “to erase everything” and lost many hearts; dfs4e17 accepts the apology and remembers the alliance. The comment layer complicates the commemorative summary without disproving it.

Rules and authority also split by layer. Posts ask a seemingly central group for permission; comments and updates point to Discord decisions, “rogue agents,” or a “hivemind” that official speakers cannot reliably command. Claims of successful coordination therefore coexist with claims of uncontrolled pixels. The evidence supports that coexistence among different participants, not a single collective change from peace to conflict or back.

Counter-reading

My one-sentence reading is that PlaceHearts made a recognisable pattern into a request-and-repair venue by fitting many groups into hearts, negotiating crossings, and defending selected work, while never reliably controlling everyone who extended the motif.

Before searching, I specified the competing account that PlaceHearts primarily directed deliberate territorial expansion and used coexistence language mainly to excuse it. If my reading were wrong, the record should contain participants directing broad takeovers, celebrating neighbours' erasure, rejecting negotiated limits, or claiming reliable command of the placers.

Searches across the supplied corpus for expansion/takeover language, destruction/attack language, and authority terms returned contrary material as well as denials. The strongest contrary item is 62v6l4, which urges participants to “stamp them out of the territory.” 62xx9y asks people to “spread the hearts,” 62ybe4 says to “cover up” space with hearts, and 6356l7 asks about “claiming new land.” The accusation in dfrz17q is also direct. These items require the account to preserve an expansionist and adversarial strand rather than treating all collisions as peaceful integration.

The competing account does not displace the main reading. 62p7il rejects destroying art for “manifest destiny”; dfoxux5 distinguishes official conduct from a “hivemind”; and dfrzkzo gives concrete examples of borders, protected neighbours and opened hearts. A targeted search for language celebrating the destruction or erasure of neighbouring art returned no items in this supplied record. That null is limited to the query and corpus—especially given deleted bodies and off-platform talk—and cannot establish that nobody celebrated damage elsewhere.

No late code was added: every contrary item inspected was already in a fully read, coded thread, and its relevant practice was already represented in the pooled codes. The search changed the balance of the account, not its code inventory.

Saturation

Code saturation is strong for the active-canvas core but not complete before the final slice. Batches 02 and 03 mostly repeat heart requests, border negotiations, repairs, rules and authority disputes founded in batch 01; batch 04 adds shutdown recognition, argument over the last OG pixel, commemoration and successor-canvas work. Theme founding batches are: batch 01—“shaping and extending the heart pattern,” “putting up the PlaceHearts sign and gathering builders,” “giving countries, causes, and characters a heart,” “making room for neighbours and turning crossings into hearts,” “calling for help to defend and repair hearts and nearby work,” “moving decisions into chats, polls, and representatives,” “turning hateful or empty pixels into love,” and “cheering and celebrating the shared work”; batch 02—“mourning hearts and neighbours that were lost,” “setting rules for which hearts stay and who maintains them,” and “arguing over whether varied hearts still belong”; batch 03—“keeping and sharing a record of the canvas,” “joking that the hearts or banner look wrong,” and the single-code “posting an unexplained canvas image”; batch 04—“working out what a contested symbol means and what replaces it,” “arguing over the last pink pixel in the OG heart,” “realizing the canvas ended without warning,” and “carrying the love into successor canvases.” Later active-canvas slices repeat settled practices, but closure genuinely changes the work.

Meaning saturation is weaker. Every supplied thread was read in full by one coder, but no reader held the whole week; this account joins four arbitrary slices. Discord carried polls, permissions and claimed official rulings whose deliberations are absent. Deleted bodies and post-window continuations obscure motives and endings. Cross-slice relations above are therefore limited to explicit words carried by the slice cases and forest, and there is no inter-coder agreement measure.

Selection

The case lead read all openings before the gate, as orientation rather than evidence. Branch B then assigned whole threads in corpus order to four coders. All 368 threads directly concerned drawing, requesting, negotiating, defending, recounting or continuing the heart-making practice; every thread was read in full, disposed as coded, and retained at least one live code. No out-of-scope exclusion or exclusion citation was required.

Other communities named

The pointer record names many neighbours and claimants. Blue/TheBlueCorner, Rainbow Road, France, Ireland, the Void, AvoArmy, Texans, FeedTheBeast, Lakers, Bob Ross and RobotWars matter chiefly as parties to borders, integration, defense, apology or loss; country, pride, fandom and small-art groups often ask for one heart and offer maintenance or help in return. Their relations vary within the same practice: the Void is alternately negotiated with and attacked, France is ally and source of damage, and the Lakers are accused, answered and eventually thanked.

Coordination also points beyond Reddit to Discord, polls and chats. Outcomes return as instructions and reported agreements, but the decisions themselves cannot be inspected. After shutdown, pxls.space, PlaceTwo and colorthis.space are proposed as places to continue; the final visible attempt remains incomplete because of connection failures.

Absence

Deleted and removed bodies are frequent enough to erase some proposals, motives and local replies, but surviving titles and responses often preserve the action being answered. They do not license reconstruction. Automatic link-preview and named bot messages were treated as platform setting, not participant conduct.

The pre-event brief is harness-generated and empty, so the record cannot show what ordinary-week language or practices the event recruited. The supplied window also ends while the commemorative thread and successor-canvas activity continue. These are specific limits on baseline and endings, not evidence that the visible practices were absent.
