C4 · Model: the field
Compare the inside view with the wider event
Communities describe organizing from within. The central r/place forum can reveal interactions between them. C4 compares the community model with material supplied by the separate Field analysis.
What v43 received
The Field agent supplied an interim reading and comments while its own analysis was still unfinished. C4 closed after considering that material. It did not compare the community model with a completed Field model; that fuller comparison remains future work.
The interim reading still changed the account. It prompted tentative entries about who can commit a group to an agreement and which version of the canvas is preserved. It also corrected claims about templates, the end of placement and communities that formed during the event. These are the recorded effects of the material supplied at C4, not evidence that the Field analysis was complete.

Where this stage starts
C3 has supplied the community-based model. If available, the handler now provides a separate Field agent’s model of the central r/place subreddit, its event phases and cited evidence. The instructions below describe the stage's intended procedure; the v43 summary above identifies what was actually supplied. The aggregator receives that account, not permission to recode the forum’s entire corpus.
The separation matters: the wider account did not supply the template used to read individual communities. If the field account has not arrived, the aggregator records its absence and closes the stage without pretending the comparison took place.
What the aggregator does
Before opening the field account, the aggregator names three claims in its own model that the wider view could most readily overturn. It then reads the field model and makes three comparisons: where the two agree, what only the field sees, and where they disagree.
Agreement needs evidence from both views. Disagreement needs an explanation of which source is better placed to speak about the question. The central forum may reveal recruitment or disputes between communities; an internal record may better show how members understood a decision. Neither account automatically overrules the other.
A process visible only in the field can enter the community model as a tentative claim if communities could confirm or challenge their part in it. Later, the return to communities will ask them to do so. The claim’s origin remains recorded, while the served task avoids telling readers that it came from the Field agent.
Some processes exist through interactions between communities. Evidence for them can be distributed across several dated records; the process need not appear unchanged inside each one. The aggregator must show how those records connect rather than infer an alliance from a mere mention.
What the next stage receives
C5 receives the current model, the comparison between sources and any tentative additions. It can write an integrated account while keeping confirmed evidence, disagreements and hypotheses distinct. A claim added here has not yet passed the later return to communities.
What the output files contain
Open a file group for its purpose. These are descriptions of the stage’s outputs. Markdown files hold prose; JSONL files hold one structured record per line.
The comparison between the two viewsfield-C4.md
field-C4.md records the three vulnerable claims,
agreements, field-only observations and disagreements. If the field
account was unavailable, this file records that limit instead.
Tentative additions and their evidencemodel/elements.jsonl, model/arrows.jsonl, model/history.jsonl, model/loops.jsonl
New entries in model/elements.jsonl or
model/arrows.jsonl carry their field origin, tentative
status and supporting evidence. model/history.jsonl
preserves why they were added. Grounded feedback cycles are recorded in
model/loops.jsonl under the model’s evidence rules.
Updated accounts and the reading ordermodel-C4.md, structure-C4.md, concept-C4.md, manifest-C4.txt
Where changes require them, model-C4.md,
structure-C4.md and concept-C4.md replace
earlier accounts in full. manifest-C4.txt identifies those
successors, so C5 knows which version to use.
Decisions and affected findingsnotes-C4.md, tier_history.jsonl, findings.jsonl
notes-C4.md explains choices and uncertainty. Changes to
the coding structure enter tier_history.jsonl; affected
claims are revisited in findings.jsonl. A new source does
not silently erase an earlier disagreement.

Source status clarified on 29 October 2026: the Field agent was still working when it supplied C4. This checkpoint contains its interim reading and comments, not a comparison against its completed model. That fuller comparison remains pending.
